About

Get time trial results to your runners on the day! Timing Mate is the reliable, intuitive way for running clubs to time-trial, handicap, and chase-style races with a single timing official. Record finishers, manage bibs, and export results entirely offline. No accounts, no Internet, no personal data leaves your device. Built for 5K time trials, club handicap races, cross-country events, track sessions, and any athletics race where one volunteer with a phone needs to capture every finish accurately. Key Features - Standard time trials & handicap races: Choose the format when you create the event. Standard mode runs the master clock from Start Race. Handicap mode records each runner's personal start time, with the gun firing automatically on the first start so the leader is always at 0:00. - Pre-load competitors: Add runners by bib, gender and age group before the race so taps during the event capture finishes, not data entry. Add latecomers on race day, mid-race if needed. - Haptic split feedback: Press SPLIT and feel an instant vibration so you can keep your eyes on the finish line, not the screen. - Flexible bib assignment: Tap a competitor tile to assign the next finisher in real time, or rapidly tap SPLIT during a cluster and assign bibs afterwards. - Cluster recovery with "?": Can't identify one runner mid-cluster? Tap the purple "? Skip" tile to mark that slot and keep assigning the bibs you do know. Resolve "?" entries from the Results page when you have a moment. - Missed-start recovery (handicap): Tap REC START for any runner whose bib you didn't catch crossing the start line. A pending strip appears so you can match each anonymous start to a bib once the rush is over. - Edit individual start times: Long-press a handicap competitor to adjust their personal start to an exact mm:ss elapsed from the gun. - Reorder finishers safely: Switch to Reorder mode for up/down arrow controls. Position numbers update live, so accidental drags can't break your results. - Mark DNS / DNF / DQ: Long-press any bib to set status. After Finish Race, any started runner without a finish is automatically classified DNF. - Handicap-aware live results: Each row shows start-from-gun, finish-from-gun and personal time on a single compact line, plus an S1/S2/... rank for the order runners crossed the start line. Group results by gender or age group. - By Line / By Time toggle (handicap): Switch between order-crossed-the-line and fastest-personal-time at the tap of a button. - Name autocomplete: When adding a competitor, start typing and Timing Mate suggests names from your previous events, populating gender and age group in one tap. - Lockable results: Finish the race to lock the data and prevent accidental edits. Reopen if you really need to. - Export & share: One-tap CSV and TXT export to text, email or social media. Handicap CSVs include StartFromGun and FinishFromGun columns. - Completely offline: No mobile data or Wi-Fi required. Perfect for forest, fell, and rural club venues with no service. - Private by design: All competitor data, splits and results stay on your device. No accounts. No cloud. No telemetry. Timing Mate is built for volunteers by a volunteer, with every feature shaped by real club races. If you can hold a phone, you can run timing.

What's New in Timing mate

NEW: Handicap Race Mode Choose Handicap when you create an event to give every competitor their own personal start time — perfect for chase-style and club handicap races. How it works: - Tap Start Race to arm the event. The master clock waits for your first runner. - As each competitor crosses the start line, tap their tile on the new Starts page. The gun fires on the first start so the leader is always at 0:00. - Record finishes exactly like a standard race — bib taps, SPLIT, "?" skip, all unchanged. - Each finisher's race time is finish minus their personal start. New on the Starts page: - REC START button for runners you couldn't tap in time. Anonymous starts appear in a pending strip; tap one to match it to a bib once the rush is over. - Edit Start Time sheet (long-press a started competitor) to set their personal start to an exact mm:ss from the gun. Live results, properly: - Each handicap finisher shows start-from-gun → finish-from-gun (personal time) on a single line, with an S1/S2/... rank for the order they started. - Classification adds a By Line / By Time toggle so you can switch between order-of-finish and fastest-time at a tap. - Implicit DNFs: any started runner without a finish is automatically classified DNF when you tap Finish Race. Quality-of-life: - Name autocomplete: start typing a competitor's name and Timing Mate suggests matches from your previous events, populating gender and age group in one tap. CSV exports for handicap events now include StartFromGun and FinishFromGun columns. Standard CSVs are unchanged. Everything still works fully offline. No data leaves your device.
