Why can’t visitors use it?

As a visitor to Barcelona I don’t have a Spanish ID. There’s no option to activate my account without one, what a missed opportunity.

Beware! Apple devices not supported with the Cartera t-mobilitat app for BCN metro!!!

Apple devices are NOT supported on the Cartera t-mobilitat app!!!! You can download the app, and buy a ticket, but NOT validate it, use it, at the gates! There is no mention of this on the app. And there is no option for a refund.

Pretty useless

Unfortunately pretty useless. It can’t be used to buy tickets if you’re a foreigner / tourist so it has zero advantage over Google maps, which is more user friendly. The English translation also isn’t great.

Sign-up extremely complicated

To buy tickets, you need to go through an extremely complicated sign-up process. You need to create two separate accounts; for the second one they ask for a passport number, but only accept the Spanish format.
