Toplin is a beautiful, native note-taking app for iPhone, iPad and Mac that keeps your writing your own. Write in Markdown, read beautifully typeset notes, and sync everything to your own Joplin server or to iCloud. Every feature is designed for focused, distraction-free writing. TYPOGRAPHY THAT READS Toplin ships with a hand-picked typeface stack: Marcellus for article titles, Fira Sans for interface chrome, and Noto Sans for body copy. Your writing feels like a real editorial page, not a plain text box. FEATURES • Live split-view editor and preview, with linked scrolling. Scroll one pane and the other follows. • Editor, Split and Preview modes for every note. • Zen mode: hide the sidebar, note list and toolbar. Nothing on screen but your article. • In-article search with match highlighting, next and previous navigation, and a match counter. • Inline images, headings, lists, task lists and code blocks. • Tag chips and folder organisation, with a live sidebar filter. • A Rubbish bin with restore, so nothing is lost by accident. • PDF export with the same editorial typography. • Full light and dark modes, tuned for readability. SYNC YOUR WAY Choose how your notes sync when you first open the app: • Joplin Only: your notes stay on your Joplin server and are kept as files on your device. • iCloud Only: your notes live in your iCloud account and sync across your devices. • Import once from Joplin, then keep your notes in iCloud. One writer per note means your library never duplicates itself. EVERYWHERE YOU WORK Toplin is a native SwiftUI app for iPhone, iPad and Mac, with an Apple Watch app for quick capture. Note something on your wrist and find it waiting on your phone. On Mac it respects the system appearance and the native Preferences window, and on iPhone and iPad it offers native slide-in settings. PRIVACY Your notes travel between your device and your Joplin server or your iCloud account, and nowhere else. There is no tracking and no analytics of what you write. When you sign in to Joplin, your password is stored securely in the device Keychain. REQUIREMENTS • To sync with Joplin, a Joplin server, either self-hosted or hosted by your provider. Prefer to try the app first? This update fixes how notes are laid out when you read them, and puts the Mac app right in several places. Reading • Notes whose Markdown is wrapped at a fixed width now fill the page instead of stopping short of it, with the ragged edge that came with it. • Bold and italic text that runs across a line break is now shown as bold and italic, rather than with the asterisks left in. • Numbered lists are shown as numbered lists, and a list item that wraps onto the next line stays part of that item. Mac • Export as PDF works again. Choosing it opens a save dialog and writes the file where you point it. • Print, with Command P, prints the note you have open. • Keyboard shortcuts: new note, new folder, find, zen mode, and switching between Editor, Split and Preview. The same shortcuts work on iPad with a keyboard attached. • In light mode, the button that shows and hides the sidebar is visible again, and the text cursor no longer disappears in the note title and the two search fields. • The Settings window is tall enough for what is in it, so Preferences and Sync no longer open already scrolled. • Rows in the note list show their whole preview and date instead of being cut off at the bottom. Toplin Pro • Your subscription now follows your Joplin account, so Pro is there on any device you sign in on. Signing out leaves the device as it was, which matters on a shared Mac. • Settings shows the customer ID your purchase belongs to, so support can find it if you write in. • What needs Pro is marked before you tap it, so nothing leads to a paywall unannounced. • If you have Pro and the app has not noticed, Settings can refresh your subscription status without going through a purchase again. Settings • Test connection always finishes now, and says so when a server stops answering, instead of leaving you watching a spinner. • Your password no longer clears the result of a test that is still running. • On iPhone, the keyboard gets out of the way when you scroll the settings list, so the buttons under it are reachable.
