First the bad. The UI is horrible. The exercise selection is minimal at best. Its calorie calculations are basically throwing darts blindfolded because it doesn’t ask anything about sex, age, weight, so it has no information to base the calculation off of. It only accepts weights in kg and it assumes that all sets have the same number of reps and weight. No support for anything resembling a drop set or superset. No way to put any notes in. For some incomprehensible reason it assumes that ellipticals have 20 reps per minute with no way to input time or wattage in any other way. On its own this would be mediocre even for a totally free app. Now the good. It has a plugin that integrates with chatGPT. chatGPT can fix most of the problems the app has. It can create new exercises for you. It can create exercise plans for you. For some reason it has to build them backwards. To get the order to show up right in the app chatGPT needs to put the first exercise day at the end of the list, second exercise needs to be next to last, and so forth. But once we figured that out this might be a great way for me to log exercises in a way that my chatGPT can access and play around with. And there aren’t any really good exercise apps on iPhone that play nice with chatGPT directly. So if you are using this with chatGPT integration (possibly other LLMs, haven’t tested it) then it is really useful. If not, then it is extremely skippable.

Hi Jstomel,
Thank you for taking the time to leave such detailed feedback. You tried a very early version of Trainerrr, and your concerns about the UI, exercise selection, calorie estimates, workout notes, and set logging were fair. The AI integration was further along than the in-app experience at that point.
Version 1.2.3 is now available and includes a redesigned onboarding flow, improved calorie and meal tracking, Apple Health integration, home-screen widgets, and more sign-in options. The AI connector remains a core part of the app, but I’m now giving the in-app experience the attention it needs.
I built Trainerrr for my own fitness journey and use it every day. Feedback like yours helps me catch the things I miss. If you try the latest version, I’d genuinely like to hear what still gets in your way. You can contact me through Settings > Report a Bug or Request a Feature.
Thanks,
The developer
