My new ticket app

This train app at least offers me a cheap day return… the other sites, LNER, Thameslink… keep ‘guiding’ me to a ticket that costs nearly 50% more!

Flexi Saver Ticket

Trying the flexi saver ticket to see if this assists me to travel to work efficiently, cheaper and flexibly. Ordering process was quick and easy.

Rubbish app

Doesn’t say whether train times are peak or off peak. Added 2 hours to my journey

New updates are terrible

It’s now far less quick and easy to buy a ticket, often commuters are in a rush and now it’s far less to easy to actually purchase a ticket… will be looking into alternative apps

Fabulous

Quick simple cheap just what I needed

Never works

What’s the point in having an online website or app when you cannot book a ticket. There is a consistent error when trying to reach the payment page. I’ve switched to Train Pal instead.

Absolutely shocking

1 star because couldn’t put less. Our train was cancelled, we waited over 2 hours at the train station without any information, nearly missed our flight. 4 months later still no refund, 4 MONTHS and they’re barely replying to me when o chase for my refund (also the train was £70…) saying they’re waiting on another company to give them information/ confirm the train was cancelled. Hope you don’t have any issue with your train otherwise you will NEVER have any sort of compensation.

Delay repay crippled

They could make delay repay so easy yet they make you upload pdfs and QR codes when they already have the data and could use it . Right after you book instead of showing you tickets it tries to divert you into some cash back offer instead of helping
You make sure you got the correct tickets first . This is dishonest and confusing.

Fine when there’s no disruptions

Be aware that it is absolutely impossible to manage bookings from within the app. You need to go on their website, log in, and hope that the page loads fast enough for your refund to still be eligible.

Due to various delays and cancellations of trains, I ended up having to buy three different tickets for one journey as the trains were arriving after the next ones I had to change onto had already left. I tried to “manage my booking” within the app but it only invited me to look at the ticket policies. There was no way to actually change my tickets before the other trains had already departed (whike I was on the first, delayed). Then when I tried to get a refund instead, I could select a reason I wanted a refund but then was unable to take any further actions except going back to the “change times/dates” or close the window and give up the refund process entirely.

By the time I was able to figure out where to ACTUALLY manage my booking (not on the app), I was far too late to be eligible to change/refund anything. Thanks for turning a £20 trip into a £40+ trip 👍 At least I got where I wanted to go eventually.

Response from developer

Hi there, not all refunds are possible via your account. I'd recommend reaching out to our Customer Service team about this. You can find their contact details here > bit.ly/4m0ZNK7 Thanks, Lorcan

Works internationally too!

Just as I would book a trip to Exeter I booked an Italian trip

Scam now

They have added a 60p charge every time you buy a ticket now that is carefully hidden💀 May aswell just buy at train station or SWR app to save money as a broke student myself. Disappointed because this app used to be pretty helpful

Cannot read quoted prices in app with new version .

Can’t see the quoted prices on my iphone 15 pro . I’m not adjusting the text size for 1 app .

No trains, no refunds

They direct you to provider for a refund who direct you back to Trainline who have zero support

Compensation does not work

Outgoing journey was severely delayed and return journey was cancelled. I was advised to use the delay repay in the app but all it did was send me on a wild goose chase to other webpages with nothing ostensibly about refunds. I’ve simply given up after several attempts.

Awful Service

My train was cancelled 2 days before travel. I was told I could get the next 2 later trains using the same service but they weren't till the following day. My ticket was only valid on the previous day so I have had to pay £50 for a brand new ticket through no fault of my own. Scam artists.

Good apart from new layout

App works but why have they made the customer journey through the app so much worse? Adding your age? Really?

Breaching GDPR for asking users age

I’ve raised this a number of times with Trainline, but Trainline have given no clear purpose or disclaimer of why they need the passengers specific age, equally, there seems to be no sort of skip functionality with it. I’ve contacted the ICO for help with this.

So Easy!

Just downloaded the app. Easy to register and set up, got assistance and great advice, recommended railcard saved me the cost on first journey! All so easy to do.

Not very helpful

Abouslutly insanely discracful
