Unusable
It charged my card after trying 3 different payment methods, said I already bought a ticket but didn’t give me a confirmation or ticket. But it seems everyone agrees it’s a joke including the train staff. Does Trenitalia seek to be an international laughingstock?
Schade, dass der Ticketkauf nur bis fünf Minuten vor der Abfahrt möglich ist.
Es ist super, dass man Busfahrkarten vom/zum Flughafen sowie Zugtickets kaufen kann. Allerdings ist das nicht mehr möglich, wenn der Zug in weniger als fünf Minuten abfährt. Dann bleibt nur der Ticketautomat. Bis das Ticket ausgedruckt ist, dauert es eine Weile. Wenn sich zusätzlich noch eine Warteschlange bildet – zum Beispiel in Desenzano, wo es nur einen Automaten gibt – dann viel Spaß beim Warten auf den nächsten Zug.

It would be a really handy app if they had some of the bugs ironed out like being able to log into your account.

I can't even select s country when making an account, had to go on the website and I can't change the time of my ticket because it keeps saying ticket not found after correctly putting my ticket number and email in the retrieve ticket option.
Apple Pay stopped working after latest update
I have been using the Trenitalia app successfully since June 2022 and have always found it to be an excellent app.
Approximately one weeks ago, immediately following the most recent update, Apple Pay stopped working for me.
I performed extensive testing:
• Deleted and reinstalled the app
• Restarted the iPhone
• Changed my password
• Updated my profile
• Tried while logged in
• Tried as a guest user
• Tried through the mobile website
In every case, Apple Pay launches normally and authentication succeeds, but the purchase does not complete.
Initially, manual Visa card entry appeared to work as a workaround. However, on a later purchase attempt, the Visa payment also failed and the application displayed the internal error message “label_payment_failed_title.”
The issue therefore appears to affect more than just Apple Pay.
Because the problem began at the same time as the most recent update, I suspect there may be an issue with the payment system introduced in the latest release.
I am posting this review in the hope that the issue can be investigated, because until last week the app worked perfectly for me.

Impossible to log in to app
I set up my account on the website, and using the credentials on the app does not work. Tried resetting multiple times. Useless.
Nightmare
This is the worst nightmare that any tourist may face. They can easily destroy your vacation and plans. Try to buy their tickets only when you really don’t have a choice and be ready for super delays and cancellations
Buying a ticket
This dumb app, will not allow you to buy a ticket for you and another person with out entering their entire life story. Actually evil when you are running late to catch a train… and there machines also don’t work…
Too Many Glitches
If you change a ticket it won’t update in order to add to your mobile wallet. Hides some trips if purchased on other sites. Complete garbage.
Flakey
Buy your tickets at the kiosk. When I sent to buy my last ticket the app flipped the to/from destination and I accidentally bought a ticket doing to opposite direction of what I had searched. I tested it afterwards and confirmed the app flipped the destination- I did not make a mistake. Trainitalia refused to issue a refund. The app sucks. Use the kiosk.

Pathetic
Unacceptable
So easy but sooo good
This just makes travelling by train in Italy so easy ! Decide which train you want, buy the ticket, get on the train and go. No need to worry about validating ticket, or getting a €200 fine if you forget. And when you want to head back, again find the option you want, buy the ticket, get on the train and relax.

Works well for researching travel and purchasing tickets
Used this to purchase tickets on relatively short notice, saves you fumbling for change and waiting in line at the ticket machine.

you can’t search you can barely make an account this app doesn’t work
very unreliable
login rarely works, finding existing reservations rarely works - the app is just a mess and not a useful travel tool due to numerous issues - I'm unsurprised because their phone and eMail based customer support is a disaster and the website is too simplistic to even allow managing existing bookings - just a terrible experience across the board.

In 2026 the Ai is there for people to utilise and here we are still dealing with apps that cannot even open total joke of an app
Keine Sitzplatzreservierung möglich
Für Interrail-Passinhaber ist es immer noch nicht möglich, buchungspflichtige Reservierungen für Sitzplätze zu kaufen. Bei DB, ÖBB und anderen Gesellschaften ist das problemlos in der App möglich. Bei Trenitalia geht’s in der App gar nicht und auch anders nur auf Umwegen. Absolut schlechter Kundenservice.

Funktioniert aber könnte besser
Noch immer kann die Suche nicht offen bleiben, ohne dass man gekauft hat. Nach einer Minute Inaktivität muss man die ganze Suche wiederholen, was sehr nervig ist, wenn man bloß (die bereits angezeigte!) Verbindung noch kaufen will
