I love my lights!
The stuff you can do with these leds are great! The images they can create with detail is superb.
app doesn’t connect / control the lights
Im updating my review since Twinkly updated the software, these are still utterly mind bending, pain in the butt to get to work. Ive connected them but they have to run as their own wifi instead of blue tooth, low security mode and are out and unresponsive currently, cant turn them on or turn them off or change a dang thing.
If you like absolute frustration, then these are definitely for you. I would not give a one star rating but forced.

Another Lousy Broken App
When it works, it’s great. But just try reconnecting when it stops working. The app offers no options to reconnect anything. Even deleting the installation and starting over doesn’t help. It will find the lights but then won’t connect them to WiFi. Total garbage.
Update Broke the App
None of my saved installations are there. All of my custom designs are gone. Edits to scenes don’t get applied. It’s a mess. A hot hot mess.
Was great prior to app update
Was forced to update the app to continue using the lights, now the app is completely bricked and I can't use the lights anyway
Removed App Functionality with Zero Warning
Opened the app to use my lights, app wasn’t working, checked the update log just to find out that was intentional as they have removed support for the lights I own for an unknown amount of time while they work on a “better” app that nobody asked for. Great move guys, I love not being able to use the product I bought. I’ve learned my lesson and will be replacing these with lights that don’t primarily rely on a smartphone app once they wear out.

Lost access to my lights
We had a large Twinkly ecosystem at my house, and after the recent account migration, half of my lights are gone.
I suspect that they probably got migrated into the “pro” account but now I can’t see them in this app.

It could easily have five stars if it wasn’t for the sketchy Alexa connection
This is a great product I use at your round. I got it for my Christmas tree and it’s so fun. I keep it around. Keeping it connected to Alexa is not fun.
Only works with Twinkly brand fairy lights…

Useless for integration
Don’t waste your money. There are plenty of other smart LED strips that actually integrate well with google home.
Twinkly is useless. It constantly has issues with google accessing the scenes or just basic on/off feature.
When it does decide to work good home will say “twinkly unavailable” even if it does turn the lights on/off
You can’t use it with any other smart app either. So not like there is a work around.

Says needs update
Today I open the app and it says please update. I go to the App Store to update and there is no update available. It says the most recent update was a month ago. Currently unable to use the app.

I’ve been using this app for about 2 years but I just went in to change my lights and it kicked me out and won’t let me back in until I update but my app is up to date. I even uninstalled and reinstalled and still locked out. What am I missing?

I’m sorry, but this is HORRENDOUS!! I was trying to make a cute light combo in the effects tab and EVERY FREAKING TIME I put the name of the lights, it didn’t show in “my effects” and it took me freaking 6 times but it still wasn’t working so I just gave up. Like what is it illegal to make a light effect now?

App sucks. Period
For at least 6 months, the explore new scenes link has not worked. You click on explore scenes and it opens to a blank webpage & nothing loads. If you delete half the URL the page will load but you can’t download anything because it’s no longer linked to your app. Before ‘customer service’ replies here and tells be to make sure I’m not a guest (I’m logged in) or to email and create a case ( I did on Feb 14, 2026) and nothing has changed. Basically the lights are useless if I cannot download new scenes. FIX THIS KEY FEATURE OF YOUR PRODUCT!!!!

Product will not connect via Bluetooth only WiFi and has constant problems. Would not recommend Twinkly products.
Every action opens a webpage
App is constantly pushing you out by opening a blank webpage. Explore new scenes? App closes and directs to blank page. Download new scene? Blank webpage. Back out of the new scenes part of the app? New webpage. Been like this since last year, is anyone paying attention? Fix this please!
Amazing but glitchy
I absolutely love my outdoor tree decorated with thousands of Twinkly lights for two years now. But the app and the patterns are extremely buggy. It takes me 5-10 attempts of rebooting and tweaking to get a new downloaded or created pattern to load into the strings.
It’s a love-hate relationship but I’m still hooked.
