Great app
The app is super responsive and intuitive as the product. The sync with both helmet and remote was seamless process. The level of customization is just great. The little bonus is to be able to visualize in one place the battery status for all equipments. Looking forward to completing my list of U1 products by the addition of the torch backpack !

App has never functioned as promised
Its a real shame that the Faro helmet App has been disappointing since its launch, and it has been very buggy and broken for two versions in a row as of December 2022. One of the main selling points for the Faro helmet was Fall/Crash Detection, and the ability for the App to alert an emergency contact with your location. This has never functioned as promised, and it now requires an iPhone to refresh the Faro App in the background at all times, quickly sapping the phone battery. The worst part? It STILL doesn’t properly alert a contact when activated. I have provided feedback on this and other shortcomings of the App to Unit 1 several times since the fulfillment of their Kickstarter campaign, and I still have not seen improvements. I really believe in Unit 1’s vision for providing a safer experience for bicycle commuters, and I hope they are able to remedy the various App issues going forward.

Incredibly buggy app ruins the helmet
This app is incredibly buggy and with glaring typos (e.g. ironically “light” is misspelled, of all words). The app often doesn’t connect to the helmet for minutes, and the customization settings do not sync the first time you select them, requiring you to toggle back and forth between these presets to get the helmet to change. You also cannot delete any presets you create. The fact that the helmet requires you to use this app for switching between preset modes ruins an otherwise cool helmet. I would return this helmet based on the quality of this app alone.

Rating for the app, not the helmet
First order of business was updating the firmware on the helmet, which got confirmed as "complete".
Then, I wanted to "Customize Helmet", but got stopped by another firmware update prompt. Clicked on "Update & Customize", got another "Firmware update complete" ... and have been stuck in that loop ever since. No matter how much I update, oy will always request to update again and I can't customize ANY settings.
Second downside: I am not going to give Unit 1 FARO full access to my address book to set an emergency contact. There ought to be an option where I can simply write in the information needed without a broad privacy compromise.
At this point in time, the app is all show and zero function, except for facilitation firmware updates to the helmet that lead to nothing.
