Straight garbage of an experience.

Terrible

My mother tried to follow instructions and finally need to enter adress details and it was correct and this simply stopped whole application because United Kingdom is not displayed in the list. It was necessary to enter address where person lives the most and it was done. Even entered another 2 address lines which was optional and it was failure. After 3 hours trial we gave up and will try to do it again on desktop computer.
This app needs immediately IT review and maintenance. Main idea is good because need to take photo for passport and face and scan passport chip but next steps are failure and everything stopped and we simply closed application because couldn’t move forward. Yes, she doesn’t speak English and this app needs multi language choices.

Worst experience ever

Got it in 24 hour check in for Ryanair flight. Passport and facial images not accepted and very slow. Absolute joke of a process.

Doesn’t seem legit

Uploaded all my data then couldn’t pay by card or use Apple Pay the two options provided

Easy to Use

The app worked great, just need to slow down and read instructions. Take the phone of your cover to scan, no issues. Turn lights down in the room for pictures. Easy process, payment through Apple Pay, and approval in minutes. Done!!!

Great app

Looks like they listened to the Canadian complaints and can now pay in CAD $

Does what it says on the tin.

This is a very well made application. The directions are easy to follow and the actions proscribed are simple and straightforward. My visa was requested and approved in under 30 minutes. Your mileage may vary.

Horrible

Unnecessary, invasion of privacy, yet another surveillance state tactic, not accepting masked pictures puts disabled people at risk for no reason, surprise fee. Absolutely no upside.

EASY

This works well. Very well documented. Make sure you remove your phone case for the chip scanning.

Smooth and easy

Worked very well. Don’t understand how the average rating can be this low.

Easy to Use

I was concerned by the low rating. I used the app anyway to apply for my wife and I. Easy instructions and worked well. After submission, we received our ETA approval in less than 2 minutes. It is linked to our passports so no need to download or print anything.

Ridiculous that Canadians have to pay in USD

Why is it that we still have to pay on USD? the first page asks where you’re from, it should automatically charge you in your currency. Very disappointing

Frustrating

There are multiple apps that look official, making it hard to know which one is legitimate. I was also charged in USD from Canada, which resulted in unnecessary exchange fees. An official government app should be much clearer and support GBP or CAD payments.

Simple

Relatively simple. Make sure you have natural light for photos because glare and shadows are a problem. For Canadians, select UK for country and you will only face your own CC’s currency conversion.

Easy process

Not sure if the app has been improved since all these negative reviews were posted but my process went through without a glitch.

Approved Fast!

Got approved in a minute. With scanning the chip you have to open the last page of your passport and scan the chip which is kinda in the middle of the bottom. I saw it had like a scanning code as well and I just place it down there and it scan.

Worst Passport Image Check Ever

Literally this app denied my passport image100x. Even if it was perfect, all 4 corners, clear image & had the 2 bottom lines in the pic - it still said it was wrong. When it did approve a pic, it was always missing the 2nd line of numbers. I finally submitted a pic taken that was rejected but was clear - did the bio scan, paid the $27 and had an approval in my email in seconds. The camera function on this app reading passports is the worst.

Worked after a few tries

The app works fine except the chip scanning can be annoying and takes you one step back if you fail that. The trick is to remove your phone case and move the phone slowly until it finds the chip, but immediately stop there until it finishes scanning. You can use Apple Pay to speed up the payment. We received approval in less than 5 minutes (US passport)

Annoying

As multiple others have mentioned the fact that a Canadian, a member of the Commonwealth, has to pay for this in USD is beyond irritating.
Also 3 of our passports have chips and after trying a dozen times each on 2 of them I could not get the chip to scan. On the 3rd the chip scanned almost immediately so it wasn’t something I was doing wrong.

Does not load

Does not load in China, presumably because of the Great Firewall, but also does not load on mobile data on US SIM card. Very disappointed.
