Love the vibes

I love the recommendations and what not but I wish that the app would let you set a location as the feed you want rather than just…all the feeds. Like I love Chicago, but I live in New York and I don’t want to see fun things in Chicago I can’t do.

A gem for finding local gems

Great, scrappy app for finding local gems. I know it’s a bunch of students with no money building this, and I don’t expect a Google experience, but y’all are really onto something. This community is a real gem.

Could be way more helpful

I love the concept of this app- I love finding unique places, but it's so hard to filter locations in this app. I'll search for something in Boston but it'll show me a place in NYC which isn't helpful whatsoever. This app could be so much better with some work.

Missing filtering options

The idea is great, and I was excited to download the app, but it’s essentially unusable? I put in my town, Austin, and then it auto fills in the search bar with “Austin, Chicago, Illinois, United States”??? And then when it finally does just stay on “austin” it shows me stuff for places hundreds of miles away. There needs to be a filter for distance.

Hi Fel - thanks for expressing your concern. We are working to make the search more clear and to restrict the filtering to a certain radius. Currently, it shows the closest places to the location you search for. If no posts have been made in that area yet, it will show you posts closest to it. Sometimes these can be miles away and not necessarily helpful. We're working to change that and will have an update soon. Please be patient as Unfound is a student run app with $0 in funding. Regardless, we're working hard to push changes quickly!

Okay so the idea is pretty cool. I scrolled through and found some cool spots already but I forgot that this app isn’t that big so there’s not a lot on it for my city (I live in a big city)… seem to run out of results pretty fast if it’s not food. Some people post shops as a google review?? Like idk what shop they’re even talking about until I google what it is

Yes we only launched in March 2021. We're also a student run startup. This means we don't have the millions in funding that our competitors have to market the app or to pay people to populate it. Everything you see is organic growth from users around the world. We plan to include more info about places in the future so you won't need to look them up in Google! Thanks for your review. Really wanted to like it, but navigation is terrible

If I input New York neighborhoods (Chelsea, east village, west village, etc) or even just “Manhattan”, the app doesn’t understand that I want New York recommendations and shows me recs for Manhattan, Illinois and other places that are not relevant to my search. I thought maybe updating it would help but with the newest update the New York recommendations are the same ones I’ve seen from months ago. This app has potential but needs a lot of work to be user friendly.

Doctor Who! Thank you for this review! We are aware of these issues and are working to fix it. I am sorry it has been stressful for you. If it is any consolation, we do have many new posts in NYC. The current way the app is built, however, does not show filtered posts by recency. We are working to fix that as well as the actual filter process. We appreciate your patience as our startup is 100% student run (hopefully we'll secure some funding soon for faster turnover 🙂). Your feedback and support means a lot to us and I hope we can provide a better experience for you ASAP.

Great concept, terrible interface

I’ve never written a review of an app in my life but felt compelled with this one. The concept is *great* and their content on tiktok has given me legitimately amazing suggestions, BUT the app itself is essentially unusable.

It’s really strange, honestly. It’s like they did no testing or anything. It’s so difficult to use, everything is cut off, and it keeps giving me suggestions for the wrong city no matter how many times I tell it where I am.

I really hope they get it together because I can’t wait to use when it’s useable!!

Of course this is the last thing we want for our Unfounders. We are aware that our current filtering method is not the nicest and are working to fix this. The reason you currently see the wrong city is because our filtering currently shows the closest places to the location you search for. If no posts have been made in that area yet, it will show you posts closest to it. Sometimes these can be miles away and not necessarily helpful. The app is so user friendly, and gives you the best way to hear from real people about what spots are worth seeing. Found amazing new places in own area and in places I travel to! Definitely worth checking out.

Exactly what I’ve been looking for

Whenever I visit a new place, I want to find places that don’t show up on Yelp or are really tourist-y. I’ve found so many cool places on Unfound. It was even exciting to find places on my own and share with the community.

Great App!

This app is incredible! This app showcases hole-in-the-wall places that are local favorites (I call these types of places the hidden gems of the city). I’ve always been someone who likes to try unique places and that’s why I love this app! The app also is well organized, easy to use, and extremely creative. Can’t wait to try out more places soon!
