Still not syncing with Apple Health

Update: May 27, 2026
I got an email about a new update for the app, downloaded and one can’t do anything without creating an account with an email address. There’s no reason an account should be needed and when email is the only option, I don’t have time for it.

Dec 1, 2025 and I checked in to see if this app works yet. It reported 10 times the amount of steps taken into Apple health and then no further updates. The old app would update health regularly, every minute or couple of minutes and the steps were accurate. This app has never accomplished that.

Great treadmill, please just restore the old app that was accurate and worked fine.

Hi there -- I'm following up to let you know we have a new generation of the app available now (the v4 generation) that's meant to address the step count accuracy issue you called out in the earlier versions of the app. When you get a chance to update, we'd really appreciate knowing whether the issues you were seeing are resolved now. Thanks!

Update: back to 5 stars

This app has had issues over the years but is finally where it should have been all along. Simple, connects reliably, integrated with Apple Health, etc. glad to see it.

Response from developer

We really appreciate you coming back to update your review. We've been working really hard on modernizing the Unsit app experience. Please feel free to write to us with any feedback you have on other ways we can make the app even better!

Needs a lot of work

The app is riddled with bugs and is very unpolished. It requires logging into an account to connect to the treadmill and track your steps, but the “forgot password” functionality is completely broken — it sends a link via email that the app does not recognize. Very disappointing for such an expensive product. I will update my review if these issues are resolved.

Hello, thank you for the honest feedback. We've been working hard on a brand new version of the app that we released a few weeks ago. Please take a look at the new version when you get a chance and let us know whether we were able to address the issues you called out. If not, please let us know what's still not working well so we can address it right away.

So many issues

Troubling syncing. Disconnects mid-session without notifying me to fix it. Doesn’t connect to Apple health easily. The list goes on. For the amount we paid for this treadmill/desk combo, you’d think the app would be better and less of an after thought.

Hello, thank you for the honest feedback. We've been working hard on a brand new version of the app that we released a few weeks ago. One of the main things we've been focused on is improving the reliability of the bluetooth connection and the Apple Health syncing. Please take a look at the new version when you get a chance and let us know whether we were able to address the issues you called out. If not, please let us know what's still not working well so we can address it right away.

An App That Can’t Actually Control Anything

I was really excited about this app because I assumed it would let me fully control my under-desk treadmill and eliminate the need for the bulky controller it comes with. Unfortunately, that’s not the case at all.

You need both the app and the physical controller. The app can’t control speed—it’s basically a glorified display. Meanwhile, the bulky controller can control speed, but it doesn’t show how fast you’re going or how far you’ve walked. So you’re forced to use two separate interfaces to get basic functionality.

This makes zero sense. Either one should be able to do everything, or at least give users the choice of which interface they want to use. Requiring both is clunky, unnecessary, and defeats the purpose of having an app in the first place.

Very disappointing design for what could have been a much cleaner, more user-friendly experience.

Lastly, it doesn’t maintain a history, it only shows me the information for my last walk.

Hi there, thank you for your feedback. It really helps us to make improvements. We have a new version of the app that was released a few weeks ago (the v4 generation) that addresses at least some of the issues you called out (namely being able to see history). That said, you're correct that the latest version is still intended to be a tracking app, not an app to physically control the treadmill. Part of that is intentional from a design-safety standpoint (it's generally safer to control something like a treadmill via physical controls instead of software-based controls). That said, this is really valuable feedback for us. If controlling the treadmill via the app is something you would find useful, it's definitely something we'll look into for the future. Please take a look at the latest version of the app and let us know if you have any other feedback -- we really appreciate it.

Thank you for the feedback, and so sorry for the trouble! We're working hard to sort out these bugs, and hope to push out an update soon.

Echoing most other opinions here.

Desk is great but app is buggy at best. Doesn’t always connect to Apple Health and I often had to manually enter the steps into whatever fitness tracker I’m using. It also constantly disconnects from the WiFi/bluetooth.

Nice to have an app but needs a lot of work

With what I paid for the treadmill and promise of a working app, I am disappointed with what we have. It doesn’t properly sync with Health app. Time and date mismatch when it does work. It seems to clear data when you take a break from walking. Doesn’t automatically connect when you start treadmill. Doesn’t keep dark mode set in prior session. Would be nice to be able to export data from app separately from connected apps.

Loses data

For a $3k treadmill, the app should be better. It loses step data randomly.

Did they even test it?

Until this app is working at even a basic level, nobody with an iPhone should be buying an Unsit treadmill. The Unsit treadmill is a solid piece of equipment, but this app that connects to it might be worst piece of software I’ve used in 30 years of IT experience, and its essentially required to get any useful tracking data. It fails epically and consistently at its one mission critical job – keeping track of the number of steps you take. It consistently loses the Bluetooth connection to the treadmill, and reconnecting it resets the step count to zero. Walk away from the treadmill for 10 minutes and come back… You lose. It doesn’t properly record the number of steps taken in a day, and routinely in the history reports astronomically high daily step totals that don’t make any sense whatsoever. It never syncs anything to Apple Health… Heck, it can’t even remember the dark/light mode setting you choose in the app’s preferences between opening and closing the app. I question whether anyone tested this app AT ALL before uploading it to the app store. If the treadmill itself had any sort of useful display or tracking on the hardware, you could almost forgive the software flaws, but because the hardware has essentially zero user interface on it, the app is the sole way to get any sort of metrics about your walking time, speed or distance. Seriously, just get the basics down and get this thing fixed.

Significant Improvement

It’s not perfect, but this app is a huge improvement over the early version. I love the ability to keep the app open without the phone going to sleep. The old app would disconnect from the treadmill periodically and not count my steps. This version seems to maintain the connection throughout a session. Lastly, the interface is much clearer and easier to understand. Keep iterating and improving please!!!

Disappointing

We received an email saying there was a new app, which I was thrilled about because the old app was pretty bad. I deleted the old app as told, and I regret it deeply because this app is somehow WORSE.

Sure, the UI looks nicer, but that is where the positives end. This app constantly disconnects from the treadmill if you don’t keep the screen on the app, resulting in the timer and step count stopping. Sometimes if you open up the app again, the step count will sync, but the time never will. I would be less concerned about the steps resetting if it actually synced with the Apple Health app, but it does not. When I first open the app, it will add some steps to Health, but after that, it will not sync again, so the thousands of steps done will be lost. This is frustrating because my work HSA reimbursements are linked to step counts, so the app is actually making me lose money.

I wish they would just bring the old app, terrible as it was, back. At least that one was accurate and synced properly to the Health app.

It could be great

I really want this to work. Was psyched to see an update

It counts steps now and connects to Apple health

But o lg when the app is open in my phone. If I switch to any other app it stops the time and sometimes it keeps counting steps

Pls fix this!

Response from developer

We want it to be great, too! We're working hard to fix some of the reported issues, and hope to have an update soon.

Sub-par

First off, love the unsit treadmill. However, this app is worse than the original, which I can no longer use because I got a new phone and the old app is no longer available.

Folks, why do I need a login to use this app?

I use the app for one reason, to track my steps accurately in Apple health while I am working while wearing an Apple Watch. The watch can’t count steps accurately while I’m typing.

This app is harder to connect via Bluetooth—why is connection buried in a separate screen if every time I walk away from the treadmill I will need to manually reconnect?

I have only had to use it for a couple days but it has totally thrown off my stats because it’s missing tons of steps. I average 12-15k per day with the old app, not getting anywhere near that with same usage patterns on this app, probably because it’s dropping the Bluetooth connection.

Again, I love my treadmill and I like to track my steps. This app needs to be better.

Disappointing

Doesn’t send the data to Apple Health. How is it possible this app is vastly worse than the previous bad one?

Response from developer

We're working on this as we speak. Hope to have an update soon.

Unbelievably, this is worse than the old app

I was excited to see a new app for my treadmill! The previous app was… not great. I don’t need
many bells and whistles (I’m not one to care about connecting to a fitbit or Apple health and I
don’t need this app for setting goals. I simply want it to track time/distance if for no other reason
than I can do maintenance on the treadmill at appropriate times per the manual). My main
problem with the old app was that I had to continually reconnect the treadmill to the app. It was
easy to forget. This new app is supposed to solve that! It doesn’t. Not only does it not stay
connected, you have to move through multiple unintuitive screens to reconnect it again (and the
screen to do it on is weird and unfinished looking). At least before I just had to open the app and
push one button. Even worse, the stats keep resetting to zero throughout the day. I walked 4
miles this morning and then when I reconnected the treadmill in the afternoon everything reset
to zero.
Registering the new app was just weird. Marketing screens that have nothing to do with me and
don’t seem connected to the treadmill at all. Thought I was being scammed. I simply can’t
believe I waited so long for a better app and got a worse one. How? Still happy with the
treadmill itself, it’s a workhorse and has been great. But come on. It’s 2025. Why did this take
over 2 years? Get a functional app for your premium product please. Hire people who know
what they are doing. Or at least be honest and admit that a simple app that stays connected and
tracks time/distance isn’t ever going to happen. At this point it seems intentionally dishonest to
mention the app as part of the selling point for the treadmill.
I’m going to continue to run the old app. It still “works” for now. At least it doesn’t reset time/distance to zero each time it reconnects.

It took years to release…this?

Filled with bugs and typos. Now requires login for some reason. Create account button links to some spammy e-commerce site with the following URL: utdadev.xyz and shows that you are already logged in as a seemingly fake account for “John” with a fake sales leaderboard. Very strange. Scaling and interface are bad, feels somehow auto-generated. Dark mode does not persist upon reopen of app. And most importantly: it does not connect to the treadmill.

While searching, it says to enable location along with bluetooth (I wouldn’t anyway, there is no need for location) and global app settings do not list it as an option to enable regardless.

Hardware is great, no real competitors in this space due to its unique dimensions and quality of construction, but forget the app.
