Beware of scams
What was once (5+ years ago) a great site for buying and selling has become a hotbed for scammers and it’s only getting worse.
Downhill
This app use to be great. There were guidelines and rules that weeded out the no shows and scammers. Was a bit strict, but most were about keeping things fair and considerate. Things keep going downhill with each ‘update’ and now I rarely look unless I’m prepared to be annoyed.
Hit & miss
Since the recent buyout, there have been more issues with photos taking very long to load or not loading at all.

Not a fan anymore
Have used this app for years and it worked well. Now, it has too many ads and a lot of scammers. I probably got 1-3 scammers a day messaging me about items before I deleted my account. Also, have had technical issues that I’ve contacted the help desk about that have gone unanswered, or a very long delay before receiving a response. All of a sudden I just couldn’t send messages? Not worth the headache. Switching to marketplace.

In the last 10 days received several scam buyer contact… what is happening that Varage is not controlling this activity?!!
My sales are great
I feel very safe selling locally on this site and 'bumping' your items is a great feature. App is easy to use and responses from Admin are quick and pleasant.
Too many scammers
I used to love using VarageSale but lately I’ve gotten so many scamming ones. They say they can’t make it and will send an e-transfer first.
Scam central
In the last month I’m getting non stop scams ppl wanting a transfer it’s getting out of control worst app ever I’m about to delete my entire account after 15 years.
Varagesale
I’ve been using this app for probably 10 years. It started out so good, every (improvement) has slowly woresend it. I don’t shop on here as I can’t stand the adds and now the set up is not user friendly . Don’t get many sales on this app I have much better luck with marketplace. It’s a far superior buy and sell experience. Constant scammers no customers just scammers. This app should be closed

This used to be a good app years ago, now it’s unusable. Every update makes it worse. Very few buy on here anymore. Waste of time.

Harassment
There is a admin on here (Vicki Tharp) that keeps harassing us even after we have done what was asked from us. Then she deletes my items for sale even after moving it to the right category. If you go on vehicle category you will find a lot of stuff that does not belong on this category. I have had nothing but problem with this lady. I have no idea why just my stuff and not others that has been posted on the wrong category for so long has not also been deleted just mine.

Varage sale and Facebook
I really liked Varagesale the way it was when it started. Now there’s constant unwanted ads -popping up forced to wait it out. As well with some photos not too clear,blurry photo can’t be zoomed in to see fabric or check brand. Everyone l know says same- change back to straight shopping,not interfered with time consuming ads.
Today July 10-2026 l hear there’s a charge for using Varagesale to buy and sell. I’m cancelling my account if we get charged for that yet too!

Full of spam/scammers after Maxsold
Ever since Varagesale changed hands it’s been full of scammers (I get at least 1-2 message a week) and spam and ads. It’s horrible. I’ve moved anything important I want to sell to other platforms. Do better??? Surely you have admin that vets people wanting to join Varagesale??

Continually bumps one off the site. Won’t allow password reset. Horrible site. Then buyers/sellers don’t understand why one won’t get back to them & one is accused of terrible communicating. All due to site issues. No tech support either.
