Terrible

The app is a good substitute if you do not have a transit card but the app does not have valid transportation arrival or departure times. This app is not reliable at all. It will say the bus has left your stop when the bus is 30 minutes late and hasn’t even arrived. This app needs to be more accurate. Late busses lead to overcrowded busses leading to safety issues. If the bus is 30 minutes late then give a alert to let paying passengers know the bus is late. It’s no that a bus is on 170th saying that same bus has just departed 147th street? Please do better!

Constantly charges debit or credit card despite saying “insufficient funds” then doesn’t provide the Metra ticket.

Charged 5 times.

When purchasing a 7 day pass it said my form of payment timed out and it wouldn’t work. I tried it three more time and it didn’t work. I log off the app and open it again to see 4 passes bought for 20 dollars each when the app said that none of the transactions had even gone through. Further more you cannot transfer these passes to anyone else and you cannot use one of the other passes for someone else on your phone. I do not recommend this app.

Okay, but Fixes Needed

The app is not terribly fast or accurate with transit tracking. However, it is not necessarily made for tracking, so that’s acceptable. What absolutely needs to be fixed is the payment selection for reloading cards. Apple Pay never works, and the whole system is inefficient.

Bad UI. Not fully mobile ready. Purchase button inactive and is only for display.

Payment Purchase option won’t work since UI has placed that button all the way at the bottom of the screen and clicking ‘purchase button’ instead triggers phone options.
I don’t know how on earth QA or developers missed it. I am Using IPhone 17 pro max. Please fix this issue, otherwise app works fine.

Can’t even purchase tickets

iPhone 17 pro on iOS 26. If your iPhone settings text is too small, the purchase button is pushed too low that it gets blocked by the quick launch bar.

Don’t work that well

Once it kept telling me my password that I use for everything was wrong and I had to reset it after a billion steps.

Eric

My dog died, idk why , also 1 star because

App needs improvement

It’s ridiculous that you have to call customer service in order to delete old cards or merge current cards. This should be a easy thing to do within the app.

Broken app

This app is busted. Literally nothing works properly.

Bad app

Great buses, but the app desperately needs a redo

Payment method very buggy

Trying to add or delete a payment method often doesn’t work. Either get server error or it accepts new card info and the card isn’t present as an option. Need to do better.

Garbage App

It does not work on my iPhone 16e. Repeatedly attempts to activate failed. The app froze.

Too many bugs to count

Payment receipt emails aren’t sent ~50% of the time. App crashes, payment attempts inconsistently fail, account randomly gets logged out - this isn’t a functional app. Chicago needs to give the contract to an actual tech company who knows how to maintain production software. This should be such a straightforward mobile app to develop.

Cant Purchase

cannot tap purchase button bc its too short and sits too low on the view. needs to sit above the safearea

Regional Pass Non-Obvious

The clunky interface did not surface the Regional Transit pass. I bought the pass that did not include Metra and had to purchase Metra on top of that. The really need to get a user interface expert to help them redesign the user interface and make it both easier to use and easier to find what one needs.

Continuous server errors

About the worst app I’ve used. Constantly getting server errors. Yet going to website works. But I can’t buy a Metra ticket on the website. Says I have to go to the app. God I hope the new NITA gets rid of Ventra. Just about every other system I use domestically and internationally works much better.

Poor implementation

Sluggish and opaque, with ordinary information like train schedules hard to find. Developers obviously have done no user testing.

Doesn’t Work

The app on my iPhone 17 pro max doesn’t let me push the purchase button

Confusing and needlessly limited

The user interface for adding and managing transit cards is confusing. "Don't have Ventra card? Find out how" is just one example of logical inconsistency. That link leads to information that contradicts the function of adding a digital card. The stored value doesn't update for almost a day after purchases, either. And for what reason can you only add set numbers of funds to the Ventra card? I only need a bit for the next few days, so I'll end up wasting some amount on a stored value on this card when I leave. Be like Japan, Chicago: allow reload from Apple Wallet and allow it to be specifically delineated by dollars and cents, and update the amount on the card as it's used. You're almost there.
