Great app and probe, team continually improving
Over 300 scans and procedures in, it’s a great probe. It has the views better than some competitors and the pocket portability that makes it a true handheld. Development team continues to add great features like M mode, Pulsed Wave Doppler, cardiac AI guidance, annotations, etc. I don’t find signal lag to be problematic on the very rare occurrence it happens.
To Development Team, would love the ability to trace the outline of Doppler wave forms for VTI measurements. Especially handy with apple tablets given it has the Apple Pencil so the tracings themselves could be quite precise. Not sure why we can’t trace Doppler waveforms since it wouldn’t be probe hardware limited, just software.
EDIT: edited rating to 3 stars, still missing ability to do VTI tracings on the app, mindray released their cardiac focused handheld which can do tissue doppler which is key in terms of diastolics. Uncertain why GE is lagging behind on this compared to competitors.
Note to GE VScan Department: The competition is firing up GE! Let’s get VTI tracing and Tissue Doppler available to the handhelds! AI is great but to anyone mildly more comfortable with POCUS, VTI and TDI is 100% more useful. You guys have a great probe, awesome looking app, but you’re gonna lose marketshare with competitors willing to offer VTI tracing and Tissue Doppler on their handhelds! I tried to convince my department to get the GE VScans but they went with Mindray and noted the above. Hard to argue. Also Mindray has wireless charging built into their probe case, why can’t GE do the same? That and the above have been things users of VScan have been noting as missing for a while. If the software limitations are addressed, would be GLAD to give 5 stars, but with competition offering more, can’t seem to give 5 stars at the moment.

Good image, incomplete cardiac measurements
Good probe, good cardiac windows, but missing a core cardiac measurement
Image quality and cardiac windows are very good for a handheld. But for a probe marketed for cardiac use with PWD, not being able to trace VTI (LVOT VTI for SV/CO) is a significant gap, especially since this is software-only, not a hardware limitation. Other handheld competitors with similar hardware already offer this. Hoping the dev team prioritizes this; it would make the SL genuinely useful for hemodynamic assessment at the bedside, not just qualitative imaging.

You will get locked out
Miss type your password three times, you’re locked out. Let’s just think for a second about what that means for your emergency bedside ultrasound. It’s not gunna happen. Don’t worry there is a guest mode. Just kidding if you press guest mode during your emergency bedside ultrasound, it tells you to log in to the registered account that you are locked out of. Let’s say you want to reach out. No one is responsible for the software that you will be able to contact. This software will absolutely kill people. Get the butterfly.

Trash
The app has so many glitches, I haven’t even been able to successfully use it. Seriously considering returning the probe and going with another brand. So disappointing
