What's New in WalkUp DJ

1.5.1

August 31, 2026

Spotify search works again, and game day sounds a lot better. In February, Spotify changed the rules for apps like WalkUp and cut how many results an app may request in a single search. WalkUp was still asking for the old number, and rather than trimming the list, Spotify rejected the whole request — so searches came back empty. If you spent weeks checking your subscription and your settings, I'm sorry. Nothing was wrong on your end. Search Spotify search is fixed. WalkUp now searches through its own service instead of through your account, which sidesteps the limit entirely. Searches return more results than they did before this broke. Search tells you what went wrong. Failed searches used to show "No Results" no matter the cause — no signal, expired login, service down. Now they name the reason and give you a way to fix it. Apple Music permission is handled properly. If you'd denied Apple Music access, search silently returned nothing forever. It now explains and links to Settings. Game day playback No more bouncing to Spotify between batters. WalkUp connects once and stays connected, instead of switching apps for every song. Songs start where you set them. A start time could be ignored if the track hadn't finished loading, so the song began from the top. Fixed. Auto-stop actually stops. A song with a late start time could run past its auto-stop and keep playing. Fade-out works, and ends quietly. The fade could snap back to full volume at the end — a jarring blast over the PA with a kid standing in the box. It now fades down, stops, and comes back up gently. Fixed playback failing right after opening the app, and a bug where the music service could silently switch on you, making Apple Music look broken when a Spotify login had expired. If your Spotify connection expires, you can reconnect. There was no way back before. Also Convert Spotify songs to Apple Music. Settings has a new converter that finds the Apple Music version of each Spotify song and shows you every match before changing anything. Optional — your Spotify songs keep working either way. One thing worth being straight about: Spotify's 2026 rules also cap how many accounts can connect to an app like WalkUp, and that cap is small enough that I can't offer Spotify to new users. If you're already connected, nothing changes for you. That's why the converter exists — so your lineups never depend on something I can't promise. Thanks to everyone who wrote in. You were right, it was broken, and your reports are what found it.

Waste of money

Spotify premium doesn’t actually connect to this app.

Faulty App

This app does not work with Spotify as the description states. Complete waste of money.

Clunky and unrefined

The transition from the announcement to the song is clunky with abrupt transitions, not smooth like other apps. Also, no amount of trying to spell names phonetically corrected the pronunciation. Finally, after you’ve subscribed to the pro service, you have 20 generated announcements a month, not unlimited. Don’t like how the AI generated announcer said the name and want to try it again? That’s one of your 20. Look elsewhere.
