What's New in Walk

1.0.24

September 15, 2026

Highlights - Play the music you own. Songs you've bought, and that are downloaded to your iPhone, now play without an Apple Music subscription. - Smoother Spotify song search. Searching and adding Spotify songs is more reliable, especially on a weak signal at the field. Improvements - New songs show up right away. Songs you add appear on your roster immediately, with no need to leave the team and come back. - Clear messages instead of silence. If a song can't play, if Spotify search can't connect, or if Apple Music access is turned off, WalkUp now tells you why and shows a one-tap way to fix it. - An accurate Apple Music indicator. It shows your real connection status, and you can tap it to connect. (Spotify-only teams will see "Connect" on it and can ignore it.) Fixes - Searching for a Spotify song no longer sends you back to the Team Dashboard. - Searches containing "&" now find the right songs, e.g. Simon & Garfunkel or Hall & Oates. - Apple Music songs save reliably to players. - The starting volume you choose for an Apple Music song now saves correctly. - Tapping the Apple Music indicator no longer opens Spotify.

User reviews

It has potential, but a lot of headaches

The main reason I went with this app initially was because it advertises that you can use your premium Spotify account… this is FALSE. I’ve used this app for spring and summer seasons, it’s been mediocre at best. The Spotify integration will never work so don’t get your hopes up. In frustration I ended up subscribing to Apple Music, but I think it’s ridiculous that I need to pay $10 a month for Apple Music when I don’t use it for anything else because I already pay for a premium Spotify I figured out I could cancel the Apple Music subscription and still use this for the most part, but certain songs have crazy licensing restrictions, so some of the biggest hits you’ll have issues using them in the app if you’re not paying for Apple Music.

On game day, I would say it works about 85% of the time. For the record, I’m using it on an iPhone 17 Pro Max and our home stadium has exceptional cellular coverage. For some reason when you hit play, nothing will happen or there will be a huge delay.

Also, once you save a song under a player‘s name, it can never be deleted. And when you were trying to test when to start a song, the only option is 100% volume at full blast, so be ready for that.

I gave it an honest try for two seasons, I’m gonna start looking for a new app because the headaches are not worth it. I’m now into fall ball and I have gone back-and-forth with AI trying to troubleshoot why one specific song will not play or one of my girls. We are on its fifth idea, I have cleared caches, I have reset apps, I have deleted and re-downloaded the track, I have off-line memory, we have reset licenses… Nothing works. I sent a request into the developer about a week ago and have heard nothing back.

When it is working, it sounds great. It’s too bad they can’t get it to work all the time.

Hey Mihouse! Thank you for your patience! We were finally able to fix the Spotify issue after working with their team constantly for the last week. The update version 1.0.8 should be good to go. Email us at support@trywalkup.com if you need anything - we are here to help! **We would love a new review if you have the time! Thanks!**

Wanted to try

Not sure if there is a try before you buy. I wasn’t the manager but do the songs. Picked player and have to join a team to test it. Not sure what the manager feature has or if it’s possible to test before paying the $20 annual. Tried to delete the account and can’t. Wanted to try cause there isn’t many that integrate Spotify.

Response from developer

Hello! Hope you are well. Honestly, I am confused about this review and rating as is doesn't seem to warrant a 3 star (seems to be more of a question). 1. There already is a free trial built into the app with no requirement to subscribe. This is clearly stated in the app. 2. You can also use the app for free as a Team Manager as the app sits today. Especially if you are just demoing it. 3. Co-Managers already do not pay for the app. You just simply needed your team's WalkUp Manager to send you the code from their side to securely join their team. You would have had full access to the app. These instructions are clearly stated in the app. 4. Yes our app fully integrates with Spotify. 5. We have feedback buttons in the app and a support@trywalkup.com email also clearly featured if you had/have questions.

Editing problem

How come you have to delete a player and add them back for any changes to take effect

For example when I edit the name so it pronounces right it doesn’t say what I edited it to it still says the same thing it used to be.

It also doesn’t let me change the song unless I delete the player and add them back in

Hey! Thanks for the feedback. Please use the “Report a Bad Announcement” button and it was purge that cached AI announcement and create a fresh one for you. Please email us at support@trywalkup.com so we can walk you through this.

Not easy to navigate

I downloaded this app excited to create a walk up playlist for my sons baseball team. The app is not very user friendly. I wish there was better selections for the AI announcer. Every time I try to add a song for Apple Music to a player I’ll click ‘save’ and it kicks me right back to select a song again. I’ve uninstalled the app, deleted my team, checked my settings and still no luck.

Response from developer

Hey thanks for the feedback. Sorry to hear something is going on with your app. Can you email us at support@trywalkup.com so we can help further investigate this? We have test this several times on our end and it’s working fine for Team Managers to add songs for players manually.

Glitchy

I was excited for an app where I could use Spotify, but it is so glitchy. The number of times I am required to ‘reconnect’ is ridiculous. Additionally, about every 4th time I push play, it only does the announcement and either won’t play the music or plays just a quick couple of seconds, regardless of the settings I saved.

We apologize for this. This is a Spotify limitation unfortunately. We are constantly working with their team to improve their integration method. Shoot us an email at support@trywalkup.com so we can try and help out here.
