Changes have made the game much less relaxing.
Zen Word has been a go to game for me. Up to this point changes have been annoyances. There is a philosophy in recreation called the “flow model” where a person becomes so involved in what they are doing that they feel gratified and at peace almost to or totally engaged. The original game did that for me. Even when changes that annoyed me occurred I enjoyed the game and could stay focused for long periods of time. Banners going across the play area block the game with announcements that do not enrich the game for me. Being essentially cut out of the play in the fish game so that I never score anything unless no one is playing becomes an annoyance because it interrupts the flow of the game. The change that really annoys me is being moved to expert where the game has serious limits on what word can be played, less rewards resulting in coins or an ad that can be close to 2 minutes long even if it is just showing a single page to get to the long length or 2 ads that make it seem incredibly long time away from play. I also purchased a lifetime of no ads but I still see them in the regular play. In my book, many of the ads are inappropriate--especially for a 9 year old which is the minimum age suggested in the app store--and many are scams.
I began playing Zen Word because I have been involved several MVAs that have affected my spelling. There are other spelling games that are not as enriching that I will go back to. If I return and find I am no longer in the expert category I will play again.

Long ads
The ads go on for way too long. I don’t want to deal with them, so I’m out.
I’m done.
Last Asylum has been the ad every single time for a week and a half straight. It’s bad enough to see the same ad every single time but the ad is so buggy I have to close down the game to get rid of it.
My review for zen word
It has no adds , I’ve just started and it’s the best game to play when you are bored !
To many ads
There are so many ads and there so long that the ads take longer than playing one round of the game
FULL OF ADS
I don’t mind ads but ads after every level is crazy
Liars
Your LIARS. NO INTERRUPTIONS YOU SAID I CANT MSKE TJIS GO AWAY WHILE IM ON ANOTHER GAME SO I DELETED
Challenges my puzzler
I really enjoy putting the old brain to some good for once 🙂
Far too many pop-ups
I’ve been playing this game for many years, and have reached almost 5,000 levels. I’ve paid to remove ads, which I highly recommend, but I am still constantly annoyed by the many pop-ups that appear throughout gameplay. The Daily Dash and the Extra Words pop-ups are the most obnoxious, but they’re joined by many others. The developers seem to make cosmetic and gameplay adjustments regularly, but all they really need to do is to greatly reduce the unrelenting interruptions. PLEASE, forget the cosmetic changes to the letters and allow your players to enjoy the game in peace.

Not fun anymore
I don’t enjoy word games that think that racial slurs are ok to use as words in their game & I’ve tried contacting customer service about this issue & got nowhere with it, therefore I’m uninstalling it & not using it!
Laid back word game
The Title says it all, a great relaxing game that keeps your mind working. Would recommend to anyone.
Spend too much time on ads
Just like other games, you spend more time watching ads than being able to play the game. After getting to level 864, I just can’t waste any more of my time watching a yarn game ad. The game was cool.
Misleading ads
The ads on this app are extremely misleading. Impossible to contact company. Hopefully most people are clued in, but this is my only way to warn those who might be tempted to buy something worthless like I did. Ah well, teachable moment.
Amazing
Best word game
When do we play the game?
How do you justify more ad play than gameplay. It is totally unplayable with all the ads. There is no relaxing when you’re waiting for the damn ads to finish.
Zen
Fun to do
TOO MANY ADS
The game is fine. Too bad all these games are about ads more than playing the games. Ads at the end of games, ads in the middle of games. Ads that cause frustration rather than relaxation.

Disappointing
I love this game. I played, kept getting coins. Paid $2.99 to “break” the bank. 1200 coins. Received NOTHING in return. No rewards for breaking the bank. LOST $2.99. Spent $2.99 for nothing. DISAPPOINTING, misleading. Now off to find a similar word game since I will be deleting this one.
This app is just awful!
The game is absolutely wonderful but unless you like ads you’ll hate it. It has ads in the expected places, but most of them go on and on. Either they’re way too long or they run over and over in a loop. It’s exhausting.
