Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Ultimate9 TC at 76% against BlackVue's 9%. Ultimate9 TC also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 10) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.0). BlackVue's advantage is rating (3.8 vs 3.0) and ratings volume (2.9K vs 2). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. BlackVue sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Ultimate9 TC asks for nothing beyond the download.
BlackVue holds the better App Store score, 3.8 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: BlackVue has 2.9K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 9% of BlackVue's written reviews are positive against 76% of Ultimate9 TC's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
BlackVue ships an update every 3 weeks, Ultimate9 TC every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 8, 2026 and November 7, 2026 respectively.
