Epic Ride Weather helps you choose the best ride for the weather, then shows you the conditions you'll encounter along the way. Find the best rides and start times from your own routes and past rides, or get a detailed forecast for a ride you've already planned. See the wind, rain, temperature, and air quality along your route, at the time you'll actually be there. Official weather supplier to Team Visma | Lease a Bike, used for race strategy at the Tour de France, Giro d'Italia, and Vuelta a España. Use Epic Ride Weather to: • Find the best ride for the weather • Choose the best time of day to ride • See where you'll get a headwind, tailwind, or crosswind • Know when and where rain is likely • Pick the right kit before you leave • Plan long rides and multi-day tours around changing conditions FIND THE BEST RIDE Choose the best ride and start time based on the forecast. Epic Ride Weather compares your routes and past rides to find the most favorable weather conditions for the day you want to ride, so you can make the most of the weather. WEATHER ALONG YOUR ROUTE Weather can change a lot over four hours and 100 km (60 miles). A city forecast can't tell you about the headwind or a 10 degree temperature drop by the time you crest the climb at 11 am. Epic Ride Weather combines your route and expected pace to forecast temperature, feels-like temperature, wind, precipitation, and more, at the time you'll reach each part of your route. UNDERSTAND THE WIND See wind speed and direction along your route, relative to the way you're riding. Know where the headwind starts, where you'll get a tailwind, and which way to ride the loop. FIND THE BEST TIME TO RIDE Compare start times throughout the day. Two hours can be the difference between a soaking and a dry ride, or between a strong headwind and a calm evening. AIR QUALITY ALONG YOUR ROUTE See the Air Quality Index along your route, with details on individual pollutants. See where air quality is worst and when conditions improve, especially when wildfire smoke is changing with the wind. USE THE ROUTES YOU ALREADY HAVE Connect to Strava, Ride with GPS, Komoot, Garmin Connect, Trailforks, MapMyRide, Plotaroute, and Runkeeper, or open a GPX, FIT, or TCX file. You can also forecast Strava Segments to see which of your favorites have the wind behind you today. Professional teams can connect directly to VeloViewer Race Hub. BUILT FOR CYCLISTS Road, gravel, mountain, bikepacking, commuting, racing: anything where you're outside long enough for the weather to change. Epic Ride Weather is free to download and includes a 30-day trial with 1,000 forecasts, enough for around 30 to 40 rides of 100 km (60 miles). Continued use requires a monthly or annual subscription. You can subscribe and pay through your iTunes account. Your subscription will automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Subscriptions may be managed by the user and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to the Account Settings after purchase. Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when the user purchases a subscription to that publication, where applicable. Verdict
The clearest difference is ratings volume: Epic Ride Weather at 791 against Speedwork's 9. Epic Ride Weather also leads on device support (3 vs 1) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.5). Speedwork's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 84%). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Epic Ride Weather sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Speedwork sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Epic Ride Weather against 5.0 for Speedwork. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Epic Ride Weather has 791 ratings behind it against 9, so its average is the more settled of the two.
