Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Coverage Map at 68% against Ooma Setup's 32%. Coverage Map also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). Ooma Setup's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, ratings volume, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Ooma Setup holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.7. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 1.7K and 798 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 32% of Ooma Setup's written reviews are positive against 68% of Coverage Map's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Ooma Setup ships an update every 2 months, Coverage Map fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
