Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Ampol at 5.0 against Elanga's 4.4. Ampol also leads on update cadence (every 6 weeks vs every 15 months). Elanga's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and review sentiment (36% vs 26%). On price, ratings volume, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Ampol holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.4. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 32 and 38 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 26% of Ampol's written reviews are positive against 36% of Elanga's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Ampol ships an update every 6 weeks, Elanga every 15 months. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
