Verdict
The clearest difference is monetization model: Work Out Timer at free with in-app purchases against Interval Timer's subscription. Work Out Timer also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7). Interval Timer's advantage is ratings volume (3.6K vs 1) and update cadence (every 4 weeks vs every 4 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Interval Timer sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Work Out Timer sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Work Out Timer holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Interval Timer has 3.6K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.
Interval Timer ships an update every 4 weeks, Work Out Timer every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
