Verdict
The clearest difference is monetization model: Interval Timer at free with in-app purchases against Interval Timer's subscription. Interval Timer also leads on update cadence (every 9 days vs every 4 weeks) and ratings volume (19K vs 3.5K). Interval Timer's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and rating (4.7 vs 4.5). On price, review sentiment and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Interval Timer sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and Interval Timer sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Interval Timer holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Interval Timer has 19K ratings behind it against 3.5K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 69% of Interval Timer's written reviews are positive against 67% of Interval Timer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Interval Timer ships an update every 9 days, Interval Timer every 4 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 24, 2026 and September 23, 2026 respectively.
