Verdict
Ear Trainer Lite and ScoreSkills both sit at 4.7 stars, but that hides the real split: 95% of Ear Trainer Lite's written reviews are positive against 60% of ScoreSkills's. Ear Trainer Lite also leads on ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (12.1 vs 15.6). ScoreSkills's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 4 months) and ratings volume (2K vs 343). On price, rating, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Ear Trainer Lite sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and ScoreSkills sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Ear Trainer Lite against 4.6 for ScoreSkills. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ScoreSkills has 2K ratings behind it against 343, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 95% of Ear Trainer Lite's written reviews are positive against 60% of ScoreSkills's.
Ear Trainer Lite ships an update every 4 months, ScoreSkills fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
