Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Hei at 100% against Xfinity Home's 29%. Hei also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.3) and ads (none vs shown). Xfinity Home's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 1) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 12 months). On price, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Hei sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Xfinity Home asks for nothing beyond the download.
Hei holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Xfinity Home has 12K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 29% of Xfinity Home's written reviews are positive against 100% of Hei's.
Xfinity Home ships an update every 2 months, Hei every 12 months. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
