Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: Strava at 4.8 against Quantified Map's 4.2. Strava also leads on ratings volume (381K vs 66) and chart position (#1 vs unranked). Quantified Map's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 10) and ads (none vs shown). On price, update cadence and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Strava sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $11.99 per month. Quantified Map asks for nothing beyond the download.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Strava holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Strava has 381K ratings behind it against 66, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 42% of Strava's written reviews are positive against 60% of Quantified Map's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Strava ships an update weekly, Quantified Map every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on November 7, 2026 and November 2, 2026 respectively.
