Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: Microsoft OneDrive at 4.7 against IDrive Online Backup's 4.3. Microsoft OneDrive also leads on ratings volume (488K vs 5K) and chart position (#19 vs unranked). IDrive Online Backup's advantage is review sentiment (40% vs 19%) and iOS requirement (17.0 vs 26.0). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. IDrive Online Backup sells 10 one-off in-app purchases and Microsoft OneDrive sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Microsoft OneDrive holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Microsoft OneDrive has 488K ratings behind it against 5K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 40% of IDrive Online Backup's written reviews are positive against 19% of Microsoft OneDrive's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

IDrive Online Backup ships an update every 3 weeks, Microsoft OneDrive every 11 days. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
