Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: MLS at 4.9 against Follow Up Boss's 4.3. MLS also leads on monetization model (free vs freemium) and ratings volume (13K vs 386). Follow Up Boss's advantage is review sentiment (71% vs 45%). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

MLS holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MLS has 13K ratings behind it against 386, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 45% of MLS's written reviews are positive against 71% of Follow Up Boss's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

MLS ships an update every 3 weeks, Follow Up Boss fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on September 23, 2026 and September 22, 2026 respectively.
