Seconds is an interval timer for HIIT, Tabata, EMOM, circuits and any workout built from timed intervals. It calls each interval out loud, keeps running with the screen off, and runs on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. Apple has featured it, and Joe Wicks, The Body Coach, has said it is the fitness app he uses more than any other. BUILD ANY WORKOUT - Start from a HIIT, Tabata or circuit template, or build a timer from scratch with sets, rounds and intervals of different lengths. - Chain timers into one compound timer, so a warm-up flows into the main set and then a cool-down. - Color-code every interval so you know what is coming before the beep. - Share a timer with a friend in one tap. HEAR IT, DON'T WATCH IT - Voice cues call out each interval by name and warn you before the next one starts. - Beeps and bells are there too if you would rather not be talked at. - Play your own music, per timer or per interval. Cues duck the music and it comes back up when they are done. - The timer keeps going in the background while you use other apps or the screen sleeps. ON THE GYM FLOOR - A full-screen, color-coded display you can read from across the room, in portrait or landscape. On iPad it uses the whole screen. - A lock button stops a stray tap from pausing your set. APPLE WATCH - Seconds runs on the watch by itself, so the phone can stay in the locker. Timers you build on the phone sync to the wrist, and Quick Intervals builds a basic circuit on the watch itself. MORE TIMERS - A stopwatch that marks your best and worst laps. - A countdown timer with five preset durations (three on Apple Watch). APPLE HEALTH - Save workouts and mindful sessions to Health. With a heart rate monitor connected, Seconds reads your body measurements and year of birth from Health to estimate calories burned. FREE TO TRY, ONE PAYMENT TO UNLOCK - Everything is available from the first launch. Build any timer and run it. - Each timer locks after you run it once. A single in-app purchase removes the lock on every timer you make. SECONDS AND SECONDS PRO - Seconds Pro is the same app, paid once up front, with nothing to unlock. The two are separate products and a purchase in one does not carry over to the other. If you bought Seconds Pro, download Seconds Pro. If you bought the unlock in Seconds, download Seconds and use Restore Purchases.

Never lose count of a set or cut a rest short again. TempoReps is a workout and interval timer for strength training, HIIT, gym circuits, and WOD-style sessions: Tempo, EMOM, TABATA, AMRAP, For Time, MIX, Rest, Stopwatch, and Mirror in one focused app. 9 MODES — INCLUDED - TEMPO: Sets x Reps with full tempo control (3-0-X-1 notation). Control eccentric, concentric, and pause phases for strength and muscle work. - EMOM: Every Minute On the Minute with custom intervals and visible round summaries - TABATA: High-intensity interval training with configurable work/rest phases - AMRAP: As Many Rounds As Possible with countdown timer - FOR TIME: Count up with optional time cap and round tracking - MIX: Build custom gym circuits combining work, rest, and any interval type - REST: dedicated rest timer for recovery between sets, attempts, or supersets, with a visible set counter and one-tap reset after each interval - STOPWATCH: Simple stopwatch with centisecond precision - MIRROR: Work at your pace, then let rest mirror your effort with a configurable work-to-rest ratio COMPANION FEATURES INCLUDED - Apple Watch app with all 9 modes on your wrist - Live Activity on Lock Screen and Dynamic Island - Playback audio with a Settings sound check, queued voice countdowns, and custom haptics FREE — AND IT STAYS FREE All nine timers, the Apple Watch app, the Live Activity, the beep, voice and percussion alerts, the haptics: none of it sits behind a purchase. No account, no ads, no session limit, nothing that expires. The free tier also holds 2 saved configurations and MIX circuits of up to 2 blocks, and whatever you already saved keeps running untouched. WHAT TEMPOREPS PRO ADDS Two things, both about your library. Saved configurations go from 2 to 20, so Monday's tempo work, Thursday's EMOM and your warm-up all sit one tap away. And the 2-block cap on MIX disappears, so a whole circuit — work, rest, AMRAP, back to work — fits into a single saved workout. That is the entire difference: no mode is added, none is taken away. Annual subscription, monthly subscription, or a one-time Lifetime purchase. Current prices in your currency are listed in the In-App Purchases section of this page and on the Pro screen inside the app. Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends; cancel any time in your Apple Account settings. Installed TempoReps before Pro existed? You keep every feature you already had, free, forever. BUILT FOR THE GYM - Bold, readable display visible from across the room - Stroke-based circular progress ring - Contextual sound alerts: beep, voice countdown, or percussive - Haptic feedback on every phase change - Reusable configs and fast return to your last timer setup - Screen stays on during workouts - Background timer keeps running when you switch apps PRIVATE BY DESIGN No account required. Your workouts stay on your device. TempoReps does not use third-party analytics SDKs. Terms of Use (EULA): https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/ Privacy Policy: https://bnjdpn.github.io/TempoReps/en-US/privacy.html Start with an editable tempo or circuit example. Adjust it, save your timer and return to your own settings next time.

Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Seconds Interval Timer at 4.7 against TempoReps's 4.0. Seconds Interval Timer also leads on ratings volume (24K vs 4) and monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs paid). TempoReps's advantage is update cadence (every 3 days vs monthly). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Seconds Interval Timer sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and TempoReps sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Seconds Interval Timer holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Seconds Interval Timer has 24K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 75% of Seconds Interval Timer's written reviews are positive against 67% of TempoReps's.
Seconds Interval Timer ships an update monthly, TempoReps every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on September 25, 2026 and September 21, 2026 respectively.
