Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Slingshot at none against Microsoft OneDrive's 11. Slingshot also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and iOS requirement (15.6 vs 26.0). Microsoft OneDrive's advantage is ratings volume (488K vs 1) and chart position (#21 vs unranked). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Microsoft OneDrive sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Slingshot asks for nothing beyond the download.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Slingshot holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Microsoft OneDrive has 488K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 19% of Microsoft OneDrive's written reviews are positive against 9% of Slingshot's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Microsoft OneDrive ships an update every 11 days, Slingshot every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
