Periodically when logging into Epic you'll receive a notification on your phone. Tap the notification to indicate that it's you and finish logging in. In case you miss the notification, you can also log in by typing in a temporary passcode displayed in the Epic Authenticator app. Your organization must set up Epic two-factor authentication before you can use the app, and you'll need to enroll your Epic Authenticator device in Epic. Verdict
The clearest difference is update cadence: Entergy at every 3 weeks against Epic Authenticator's every 16 months. Entergy also leads on ratings volume (1.6K vs 39) and rating (2.7 vs 2.5). Epic Authenticator's advantage is review sentiment (27% vs 11%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Entergy holds the better App Store score, 2.7 against 2.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Entergy has 1.6K ratings behind it against 39, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 11% of Entergy's written reviews are positive against 27% of Epic Authenticator's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Entergy ships an update every 3 weeks, Epic Authenticator every 16 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
