Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: RunGap at 4.8 against Cadence's 3.5. RunGap also leads on ratings volume (5.9K vs 22) and review sentiment (77% vs 62%). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. RunGap sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 3 months and Cadence sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
RunGap holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: RunGap has 5.9K ratings behind it against 22, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 77% of RunGap's written reviews are positive against 62% of Cadence's.
RunGap ships an update every 2 weeks, Cadence fortnightly. Both last shipped on October 21, 2026.
