Countless adventurers before you have descended this torch-lit staircase, seeking the promised riches below. As you reach the bottom and step into the wide cavern, the doors behind you seal with a powerful magic... Welcome to the Dungeons of Doom! Brogue is a single-player strategy game set in the halls of a mysterious and randomly-generated dungeon. The objective is simple enough -- retrieve the fabled Amulet of Yendor from the 26th level -- but the dungeon is riddled with danger. Horrifying creatures and devious, trap-ridden terrain await. Yet it is also riddled with weapons, potions, and artifacts of forgotten power. Survival demands strength and cunning in equal measure as you descend, making the most of what the dungeon gives you. You will make sacrifices, narrow escapes, and maybe even some friends along the way -- but will you be one of the lucky few to return alive?" This app offers: Brogue Classic - Brian Walker's original vision and where it all started. Brogue CE - A community effort that fixes bugs and crashes and focuses on QoL. Brogue SE - A new variant by yours truly with original items, monsters, and mechanics "...on the iPad, Brogue is an even more incredible feat than it is on the Mac: there aren’t a lot of roguelikes that can jump from a keyboard to a touch-based interface without coming off worse for wear. It’s every bit as good on the iPad as it is on the Mac." - Cult of Mac "[...] it manages to make use of its ASCII visuals to create some truly impressive-looking environments [...] it’s high fantasy to the core; filled with kobolds, goblins, wands, spell scrolls, and more." - 148Apps "It's a bit weird and clunky, but yeah, it's still Brogue" - Roguelike Radio

Good evening, contestants. Welcome to LEVEL CRAWL, the only show where the contestants are the content and the content dies a lot. Nobody's sure how you got here, and the producers aren't taking questions. But here you are, at the top of 18 floors of traps, monsters and sponsor-approved violence, with a very large audience watching. Please smile. Ratings are everything. WHAT YOU GET • Hand-crafted 16-bit pixel art: every monster, Delver, item and wall, with its own tileset for every zone, from the Sewers to the Studio itself. • Turn-based grid combat. You move, they move. Nobody's rushing you except the floor clock and the audience. • Headliners: a boss at the bottom of every floor. Get close and the show cuts to a turn-based battle screen. Running is not an option. • COMBO! Set fire to an oiled monster, zap a wet one, shatter a frozen one, splat one into a wall. 23 combos to find, and the crowd loses it every time. • 26 species, from Human to Gnoll, Treant, Robot and a root vegetable with a dream. Pick a class on floor 3 and specialize on floor 9. • 200+ monsters that don't play fair: thieves, exploding beetles, gelatinous cubes that eat your loot, ghosts of Delvers who didn't make it. • 30 spells, 35+ talents and 250+ items: rare and epic gear, enchantments, cursed items, gear sets and things that fell in from other worlds. • Odd floors that change the rules: conveyor belts and crushers, a frozen lake, a flooding sewer main, a haunted manor that moves its doors, a space station with cheap airlocks. • Every floor is a different episode: Blackout, Speed Round, the Arena, the Heist, the Game Show and more. • The host is your tutorial. He explains each thing once, when it matters, then replays your death on air with a tip for next time. • Easy mode from your first run. Win once and unlock 10 Ratings, each one stacking a new twist, all the way to Prime Time. • Earn outfits, name titles, entrances and starting pets by dying in style. • Whatever killed your last Delver comes back as your Nemesis. • 300+ achievements, many of them rude. 100 of them on Game Center. • A Daily Dungeon (the same run for everyone, once a day) and the Endless Abyss, a dungeon with no bottom and a world leaderboard. • Play with friends: up to 8 Delvers, one floor clock. • Colour-blind and high-contrast modes. • One life. Death restarts the whole run. The audience considers this a feature. Free. No ads. No purchases. Your run saves on your device. Contains swearing, crude humor and cartoon violence. Art: 16-Bit Fantasy and 16-Bit Sci-Fi by Oryx Design Lab (www.oryxdesignlab.com). The original 1-bit look, from the 1-Bit Pack by Kenney (CC0), returns as an unlockable mode.

Level Crawl's advantage is update cadence (every 2 days vs every 4 days) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 18.6). On price, rating, ratings volume and ads there is nothing between them.
