No tracking. THE SCIENCE BEHIND RED LIGHT Retinal cells need energy to function. Their mitochondria produce ATP - the fuel that powers cellular activity - and mitochondrial function can decline with age. Research into red light therapy, including a 2021 UCL study published in Scientific Reports, has explored how controlled exposure to deep red light at 670 nm may support retinal energy processes and colour contrast sensitivity. A screen is not the same as the light source used in that research. Screens emit a broader spectrum, typically peaking around 620–640 nm, and cannot reproduce a precise 670 nm exposure. Display settings do not make them equivalent to research equipment. The study’s findings do not establish that this app improves vision or increases ATP. Use the app for a mindful pause and to learn about red light research - not as an eye treatment. It is for wellness and education, is not a medical device, and does not replace advice from an eye-care professional. Set aside three minutes. Pause, unwind, and make room to refocus.
