Most language apps start you at "hello" no matter how much you already know. Lernlang tests you first, for words and for grammar, and starts you where you actually are. A two minute test runs you across the whole frequency list and works out which words you already have. A second one does the same for grammar, so you test out of the tenses and forms you already own instead of sitting through the present tense again. After that it teaches the most common words before the rare ones, because the first 1,000 words in a language cover around 80% of everyday conversation. Spanish, French, German, Mandarin Chinese, Russian and Portuguese. Pick one or work through all six. WHAT'S IN IT Two placement tests. One finds the words you know, one finds the grammar you know. Both let you skip what you would otherwise sit through twice. A 5,000 word course per language, ordered by how often words actually turn up. Reviews scheduled with FSRS, so a word comes back just before you would forget it, not on a fixed timetable. Flashcards, multiple choice, typing, listening, and speaking practice with your own voice. Mandarin tones included. Conjugation drilled tense by tense, and only the tenses the test says you are missing. Grammar taught through the pairs people actually get stuck on. Ser and estar. Savoir and connaître. Wissen and kennen. 了 and 过. Short stories built only from words you have already learned, so you can read one end to end without stopping to look things up. An AI tutor you can hold a conversation with when you want to use what you know rather than drill it. A profile that tells you how many words you know and what that is worth in CEFR terms. No streak nagging, and nothing that makes you replay content you have already proven you know. You start where you are and move forward.
