CBT-i Coach is for people who are engaged in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia with a health provider, or who have experienced symptoms of insomnia and would like to improve their sleep habits. The app will guide you through the process of learning about sleep, developing positive sleep routines, and improving your sleep environment. It provides a structured program that teaches strategies proven to improve sleep and help alleviate symptoms of insomnia. CBT-i Coach is intended to augment face-to-face care with a healthcare professional. It can be used on its own, but it is not intended to replace therapy for those who need it. CBT-i Coach is based on the therapy manual, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia in Veterans, by Rachel Manber, Ph.D., Leah Friedman, Ph.D., Colleen Carney, Ph.D., Jack Edinger, Ph.D., Dana Epstein, Ph.D., Patricia Haynes, Ph.D., Wilfred Pigeon, Ph.D. and Allison Siebern, Ph.D. CBT-i has been shown to be efficacious for insomnia for both Veterans and civilians. CBT-i Coach was a collaborative effort between VA’s National Center for PTSD, Stanford School of Medicine, and DoD’s National Center for Telehealth and Technology. CBT-i Coach works with the Apple Health app and Fitbit.

Some mornings feel like everything you say makes it worse. besda is for the days when your nervous system is working against you — and you need 90 seconds to reset before you walk back in. Tap Circuit Breaker any time and follow a breathing guide through 90 seconds of physiological sigh. After a few check-ins, the app notices when you're heading into a tough stretch before you do — and has the Circuit Breaker ready before you need it. You can voice-record what you're carrying — it stays on your phone, transcribed by Apple's on-device speech recognition, never sent anywhere. Before you go home, a short three-step transition walks you out of work mode and back into dad mode. The Brotherhood Feed is anonymous posts from dads in the same situation — no usernames, no profiles, just the real stuff. No account. No login. Voice memos stay on your device. Check-in history and everything you record never leaves your phone. Brotherhood Feed posts are anonymous — not linked to you, not linked to your device. Built specifically for ADHD and autistic dads who need tools that actually work when the hard moments hit.

Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: besda at 5.0 against CBT's 4.6. CBT's advantage is ratings volume (13K vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
besda holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: CBT has 13K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.
