Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: The Brass Tap at none against Pie Tap's shown. The Brass Tap also leads on monetization model (free vs ad-supported). Pie Tap's advantage is ratings volume (1.2K vs 1) and review sentiment (50% vs 26%). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
The Brass Tap holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Pie Tap has 1.2K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 26% of The Brass Tap's written reviews are positive against 50% of Pie Tap's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
