How’s your hearing? Learn your Hearing Numbers—the softest sound you can hear in each ear—with an app created by the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Then use your Hearing Numbers to protect your hearing and hear better. Track your hearing to know how it changes over time and encourage others to know their hearing. Take charge of your hearing wellness! Hearing Numbers can be as low as -10 or as high as 100 decibels, or dB. The higher your Hearing Numbers are, the louder sounds will need to be for you to hear them, and the harder it will be to hear and communicate in noisy places. Requires headphones, a quiet space, and about 5 minutes to complete. No advertising, in-app purchases, or product recommendations. The app tests the noise level around you, measures your hearing levels at four frequencies in each ear, and provides your Hearing Numbers. Share the Hearing Number app and encourage your friends and family to learn their Hearing Numbers. Re-check your Hearing Numbers from time to time and review previous results to track how your hearing changes over time. Learn more about the Hearing Number and how to use it at app.HearingNumber.org. This app is created by the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, seeking to empower people to know their hearing—millions at a time. Disclaimer This hearing wellness app does not constitute medical advice or diagnosis. You should consult with a health care provider for questions related to your hearing or if you are experiencing any of the following: ear pain or ringing, dizziness, ear drainage or a sense of something in your ear, sudden or fluctuating hearing loss, injury or deformity to your ear, or worse hearing in one ear (i.e., your right and left Hearing Numbers are different by more than 10 dB).

And when you've had a good one, Steady asks what helped — not just what went wrong. MEET SOL Sol is the little light inside Steady. Sol checks in gently, notices what helps, and breathes with you when things get loud. It surfaces just enough to help you see yourself changing, then gets out of the way. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Your entries are encrypted, and your data is never sold — ever. Steady is here for you, not for advertisers. SAFETY FIRST, ALWAYS Crisis support is always available and never behind a paywall. Steady's crisis and safety content is written by people, never generated by AI. It can point you toward help — it will never try to handle a crisis itself. IMPORTANT — MEDICAL DISCLAIMER Steady is a self-help support tool for adults (18+), intended to complement — never replace — professional care. It is not therapy, not a medical device, and not a crisis service, and it does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always seek the advice of your physician or another qualified health professional with any questions about a medical or mental-health condition, and consult them before making any medical decisions. Never disregard or delay professional advice because of something you read or did in Steady. If you're in crisis, call or text 988 (US) or contact your local emergency services. STEADY PLUS Steady is free to use. Steady Plus unlocks the pattern-aware tools above — free-text AI check-ins, Patterns, CBT thought records, and the small-steps planner — with a 14-day free trial for new subscribers: • Monthly — $7.99/month after the trial • Yearly — $59.99/year after the trial If you start the free trial, your Apple ID is charged when the trial ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before. Verdict
Hearing Number and Steady both sit at 4.9 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of Steady's written reviews are positive against 43% of Hearing Number's. Steady also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 3 months). Hearing Number's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 2) and ratings volume (596 vs 4). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.
