Tide vs Resonance
Price, ratings, monetisation and update history for both apps, side by side — with what reviewers say about each.
Tide
Read full descriptionHide full description
Tide is a breathing timer, built around your own rhythm. Build a pattern from scratch: set your own hold times, chain together repeatable step sets, and choose whether a session ends after a set number of rounds or after a fixed length of time. Once it's saved, it works exactly like any other pattern in the app. Not sure where to start? Three patterns are ready to go: Box breathing (4-4-4-4): used to reset under pressure. Equal parts inhale, hold, exhale, hold. 4-7-8: a technique for unwinding. A long exhale that signals to your nervous system that it's safe to slow down. Calm (3-2-5-2): a gentle everyday pattern. Slightly longer exhale than inhale, designed for quiet moments and transitions. Tide also runs on Apple Watch. Start a session from your wrist with quick-start presets and rounds mode. Chime and haptic settings sync automatically between your phone and watch. No narration. No scores. Just the rhythm you choose. Tide is made by Quiet Leaf LLC. Resonance

Resonance trains you to steer your own inner state through breath. Not just another meditation app — a real path that builds, level by level, your ability to drop into calm at will, and to stay composed when the pressure rises. Two complementary sides: • DESCENT — bring the pressure down: resonance breathing (heart coherence), long exhales, the physiological sigh, body scan. • CONFRONTATION — widen your tolerance: CO₂ tables, breath-holds, dry apnea. 5 GUIDED PROGRAMS • First breaths — one gentle week to get started (free) • Resonance — the core 10-level path: descent and confrontation • Sleep better — an evening ritual that prepares the night • Mindfulness — a real meditation practice, step by step • Deep breath-hold — tables, holds, CO₂ tolerance THE ACTIVATION PROTOCOL A voice-guided morning ritual (5 or 10 min): settle in, wake the body, then direct your attention — gratitude, your best self, your intention. REAL BIOFEEDBACK Connect a chest strap (Polar H10…) and watch your heart sync with your breath, live. Coherence score, and a resonance test to find YOUR personal frequency — only your real data, no invented numbers. AND MORE • 11 meditations and self-hypnosis tracks, in 4 voices, English and French • Sessions keep running with the screen locked, music included • Free sessions, an express toolkit, measurements (BOLT, HRV, resting pulse) • Your own proof: records, curves, weekly volume • No account — your practice data stays on your phone RESONANCE PREMIUM 7-day free trial, then $69.99/year or $9.99/month. The First breaths program stays free. Safety first: dry-land training only, never in water or while driving. Resonance is not a medical device and does not replace professional advice. Verdict
The clearest difference is update cadence: Resonance at every 3 weeks against Tide's every 2 months. Resonance also leads on iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.
