Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: 531 Trainer at none against Intensity's 3. 531 Trainer also leads on review sentiment (82% vs 64%) and iOS requirement (7.1 vs 15.6). Intensity's advantage is rating (4.6 vs 4.3) and ratings volume (191 vs 10). On price, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Intensity sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. 531 Trainer asks for nothing beyond the download.
Intensity holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Intensity has 191 ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 82% of 531 Trainer's written reviews are positive against 64% of Intensity's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
531 Trainer ships an update fortnightly, Intensity every 4 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
