New app doesn’t work
When it works it’s fine
To start, get rid of usernames. Email is just fine. Add in biometrics and two-step verification for security.
Such a disappointment
New update is less user friendly and all around horrible
Experiential Learning
On the plus side, good to know BH is giving 3 year olds some experiential learning in mobile app development.
Much better, room for improvement
There are still some bugs to work out. For example, the daily medication arrival note is updated with a new timestamp each time I open the app. This is annoying for both parents and teachers. Another example is with the daily provided food section. It does not retain my notes from the night before, or it autopopulates with a previous day’s food list.
I would like to see a few other improvements. First, the arrival and pickup lacks sufficient detail or specificity. I would like to see an option for the ETA to be consistent with my navigation app, particularly if there is a sudden change in traffic so I don’t need to mess with my phone unnecessarily. Second, the timeline should come with an easy toggle button to see in chronological or reverse chronological order. Right now, it defaults to reverse order.
As a parent, I greatly the appreciate the overhauled app. But please, don’t stop here!
No thought into time for data entry
The main thing the teachers need to know is who to contact and what time the child is expected to be there. So why do I need to press quick menu -> arrival notes -> pick up time -> select person -> select phone number (even though there is only one) -> scroll from the current time to an afternoon time (one step for hour, minute, switch to pm from am). If you just want tentative pick up time do you really need to the minute accuracy? Making it in 10-15 minute segments would already make the set up faster. However the best option would be able to have 3 standard pick up times for parents to set up based on their usual schedule and allow “other” with the flexibility.
The default is to repeat this process per sibling rather than have a toggle for “different pick up times today” as most parents will pick up kids together 95% of the time.
I also do not like only being able to write notes in the morning. If I have a question about how my child is doing, I understand that the teachers are busy and should not be expected to respond in real time. However, being able to pre-write notes for the following day (schedule, pick up time, questions) would be super helpful for those of us who are in a rush in the morning and who would have more time in the evening or during lunch break. Having default inputs would also be useful. (I understand doing the health check each day but the other questions are too much.)
Parents are busy enough, teachers are busy enough. The app should be an asset and not a 10-15 minute chore each morning. This update made the sign in process longer.
Improved UI but still unusably slow
New version layout is terrible!
Nov 22 Update is SOOOO SLOW
Make it much easier to see pics of my kids and hear about what they’re doing. I shouldn’t have to click around for that (and don’t mind clicking a bit more for calendar or center info)
