New app doesn’t work

The old app wasn’t great but this new version doesn’t work at all. Can’t edit anything and it’s entirely unusable for me. Contacted support but no fix as of yet.

When it works it’s fine

Every time you update there seem to be issues. User experience there is beyond frustrating.
To start, get rid of usernames. Email is just fine. Add in biometrics and two-step verification for security.

Such a disappointment

I’ve been using the My Bright Day app for 7 years with three children. I do not say this lightly because I have no doubt planning and intentional, thoughtful work went into this update. However, this new version is just utterly unusable. It’s entirely unintuitive, locks me out consistently, requires a silly amount of scrolling to get to where I need to be and more, lower priority irritations. I’d suggest a full rollback.

New update is less user friendly and all around horrible

I’m not sure who the developer team is here but every update is even worse than before. And bugs galore. The latest change brings more clicks, is less efficient, and nothing is saving. Just because something looks pretty doesn’t mean it’s good.

Experiential Learning

The app (new/old) is total garbage. Horrible usability, rife with bugs, and good luck if it logs you out because BH probably can’t find your account when you try to log back in.

On the plus side, good to know BH is giving 3 year olds some experiential learning in mobile app development.

Much better, room for improvement

This new update is a tremendous improvement from the previous design. I appreciate that everything is centralized, from the arrival notes to the center’s calendar. The UX is significantly more intuitive and it is much easier to access my child’s daily reports.

There are still some bugs to work out. For example, the daily medication arrival note is updated with a new timestamp each time I open the app. This is annoying for both parents and teachers. Another example is with the daily provided food section. It does not retain my notes from the night before, or it autopopulates with a previous day’s food list.

I would like to see a few other improvements. First, the arrival and pickup lacks sufficient detail or specificity. I would like to see an option for the ETA to be consistent with my navigation app, particularly if there is a sudden change in traffic so I don’t need to mess with my phone unnecessarily. Second, the timeline should come with an easy toggle button to see in chronological or reverse chronological order. Right now, it defaults to reverse order.

As a parent, I greatly the appreciate the overhauled app. But please, don’t stop here!

No thought into time for data entry

The new app allows for a lot of flexibility, which is a detriment for parents who are already stressed in the morning.

The main thing the teachers need to know is who to contact and what time the child is expected to be there. So why do I need to press quick menu -> arrival notes -> pick up time -> select person -> select phone number (even though there is only one) -> scroll from the current time to an afternoon time (one step for hour, minute, switch to pm from am). If you just want tentative pick up time do you really need to the minute accuracy? Making it in 10-15 minute segments would already make the set up faster. However the best option would be able to have 3 standard pick up times for parents to set up based on their usual schedule and allow “other” with the flexibility.

The default is to repeat this process per sibling rather than have a toggle for “different pick up times today” as most parents will pick up kids together 95% of the time.

I also do not like only being able to write notes in the morning. If I have a question about how my child is doing, I understand that the teachers are busy and should not be expected to respond in real time. However, being able to pre-write notes for the following day (schedule, pick up time, questions) would be super helpful for those of us who are in a rush in the morning and who would have more time in the evening or during lunch break. Having default inputs would also be useful. (I understand doing the health check each day but the other questions are too much.)

Parents are busy enough, teachers are busy enough. The app should be an asset and not a 10-15 minute chore each morning. This update made the sign in process longer.

Improved UI but still unusably slow

Lipstick on a pig. That’s how I describe this update. The app still drags along and is hard to use due to it being so slow.

New version layout is terrible!

The My Bright Day app has a new look, and wow do I hate it. Now there’s a giant bubble for every single entry for things that have gone on with your child, such as a nap and a meal. Before you could see a bunch of entries at a glance. Now, maybe 2, giant bubble blocking one of them that you need to click on to do some unlabeled things such as all of the drop off entries.

Nov 22 Update is SOOOO SLOW

The app has always been pretty low end so I get that they tried to update to be more modern but (1) the speed basically makes it non-functional, (2) they’ve moved away from being kid-centric. For example, the only under my child’s name is the center’s info (yep, I know the address because we do dropoff and pickup everyday…I might need at some point but don’t put it front and center)

Make it much easier to see pics of my kids and hear about what they’re doing. I shouldn’t have to click around for that (and don’t mind clicking a bit more for calendar or center info)
