Please Update The App it’s Been 1 year
  • Excellent

I have downloaded this app so I can play all of my midi files. I tried to upload a sound font, but I couldn’t find where you go to upload one. After searching for a minute or so, I found where you upload sound fonts. I downloaded the Super Mario 64 sound font just because it’s a good sound font. I found a midi of “Whatever It Takes” by Imagine Dragons and with the Super Mario 64 sound font, it sounded… …strangely beautiful. I downloaded some more midi files to test out what sounds good with the Super Mario 64 sound font, but I will still keep all of the midis even if they sound bad.

  • Great app, but can I export an edit to my files

How can we export tweaked files?
  • Great app for playing midis but one suggestion,

May you please add a spectrum editor for all the instruments or just the song in video form that we can save into our devices? Basically a spectrum video editor. If you do, Thanks alot.

    Thanks for the idea.
  • Pay for everything

Unfortunately like many apps this app requires you to pay to use your own midi files, you can’t change the instrument type without buying features, even then they’re limited, they also don’t play the actual instrument associated with your midi file.
    10/10 do not recommend sadly.

This free app plays any of your standard MIDI files and supports all of the 128 General MIDI instruments. There are several upgrades available for purchase. Thanks for supporting indie app developers!
  • I love the app, but i have an idea that could make it better!

I love this app, i love taking midi files and hearing how it sounds in other soundfonts, but something i wish was in the app was an option to save midi soundfiles as mp3 files, since recording them to share them can be difficult.

I still love this app, and that's why i rate it 5 stars even without the download function.

☺️ Great idea! I’ll see what I can do.
  • Good but take notes

This is a good midi application with open support to multiple types of soundfonts FM or not my only issue is that you are charging for features that you can commonly find for free on desktop applications.

    Thanks for supporting independent developers!
  • The best for iOS (issue)

Adding off of the old review for some reason when Ioad a soundfont the app crashes but the thing is the file is not corrupt I have used it many times before I don’t know why

    Developer Response

Please try updating to version 4.2.1 for a fix. If the app still crashes, please try running it one more time again. I’m sorry to hear that’s happening for you. I’ve found that some soundfont files have unknown problems with MIDI Opener’s sequencer, but it shouldn’t be crashing.
  • Excellent!

I’ve been using this app for a while and the most recent updates are out of this world! The ability to change instruments and mute certain tracks is great to experiment with, and it doesn’t cost me my first born to unlock all the goodies!

P.S. I forgot I had Rick Astley queued up previously so after the update I thought the devs were Rick-rolling me lol

  • Crashed after one play

After I downloaded the app and uploaded one of my personal midi files, it played well. However, it does not load the app anymore. It's a shame because I was hoping to use this to audition my compositions for any changes I might make before publication. Even after restarting my ip14pro 512, no luck.

I’m really sorry that’s happening. We test with hundreds of files and dozens of sound fonts to avoid this very thing, but clearly the app needs to be more resilient. If you’re willing to help fix this, please get in contact with us by following the App Support link from the App Store, or tap the blue safari button found in the app at the top left of the Settings screen. In the meantime, we’ll try to do better testing.
