  • New update makes a great app greater!

Love it! If you are on the fence on downloading this, then don’t worry. This is by far the best midi playback app I have seen.

    Thank you!
  • good app but…

I love how I’m able to change instruments and tempo but the changing key option breaks every song, because whenever I open the app with the song I played before, it sounds fine, but when I choose a different song, the song is in the key of the previous one, and I always have to manually change the key, and I’m getting annoyed of this, so can you please remove the change key or at least fix it? that would really help!

Update to version 4.2 for the key transposition fix.
  • I guess it’s just what I needed

I needed something to… open midi files and listen to them. Kudos to the creator!

    Developer Response

    Thanks! You’re doing great.
  • Terrific!

This was a useful app before but the new upgrade is terrific. When our MD sends a midi file now I can select my instrument and mute others, add the rhythm sections, vary the BPM until I’ve got the hand of my part. Congratulations!
  • Transposed

It would be better if you can add transpose so I can transpose up or down if I need to.

Version 4.1 lets you change tempo and transpose the song’s key. Get it today!
  • Great App, But One Problem…

This app is great and all of the instruments sound great, except for the bass drum for drums. It’s way to quiet to hear with all of my other instruments and for the type of music I make, which is metal music. If the bass drum can be made a little bit louder, that would be great. It is a great app, overall. Love the tempo change feature, and I love how simple and easy it is to use. Maybe there could be some more SoundBanks added. Anyway, great app, but that bass drum is too quiet. 👍

Thanks for the feedback. Version 4.0 gives you an equalizer effect that might help you find the sound you want. Also, try some these soundbanks: Airfont, Fury or FluidR3. You can find soundbank links on the MartianRover website, which opens when you tap the Safari button found in the upper left of the app’s Settings screen.
  • The best for iOS

This is the best app on iOS that can play midi great

    The default soundfont isn’t trash
The soundfonts you can add make this app an 5/5 totally recommend
The only thing I have is having to pay for changing bpm ( it annoys me for now but some time in the future I will buy the upgrades )
  • Really cool

    A really good midi app.

Mario 64 soundfonts make everything scuffed

Just wish I could download the midi with a new soundfont.

    Other than that, it’s great!
  • Don’t bother.

Tried opening the files directly via link on a website and also tried downloading close to a dozen different midi files and this program didn’t make a peep.

    Developer Response

That bug has been fixed so please give us another shot!
  • No Settings

There are no Settings where you can choose your external MIDI interface.

Thanks for suggesting such an interesting use case. I am researching possibilities and would greatly appreciate if you could describe in detail how you see MIDI Opener fitting into your workflow.
