the buggiest app!

This app is awful. It’s hard to search and navigate through the content of your ‘memberships,’ but the worst part is that the app doesn’t even load half the time. It will quit when moving between pages or just flat out fail to load the home page feed. I know it’s not an issue with my OS because I have a newer Iphone XR, and I don’t have these issues with any other apps. honestly it’s just disappointing. patreon plays an important role as a platform for creators to share their work and make a livelihood doing so— this app is so buggy and awful that it honestly works against that very goal. If there were some other widespread subscription service for creators to share their content, I would migrate IMMEDIATELY!

To the patreon ios dev team, I really hope you get this app in working order. It’s embarrassing how poorly this app functions, and you do a great disservice to creators and patrons by leaving it in such dysfunction. It literally blows my mind that a company as important and widespread as patreon could mess up an app this badly.

Good layout & UI but poor performance.

I like the Patreon app because it’s well designed, and without it I wouldn’t be able to listen to bonus podcasts.

That being said, if you’re playing an audio file from the Patreon app while you’re browsing twitter for example, and you watch a video on twitter so it pauses your audio, then when you close the video the audio starts back up again—if it worked properly. Instead, the audio resumes and then immediately pauses and then resumes and then immediately pauses and continues this until you open the Patreon app and pause then resume the audio and it continues to work normally after that.

Nothing shows up on your audio feed until you’ve began playing something, so if you want to find content from, say, a few months ago, expect to have to scroll down the feed for 5 minutes while intermittently pausing for the feed to load for minutes at a time. These problems aren’t app-breaking but they sure are frustrating.

Also, the app tells me good morning for the entirety of the day. If I open the app at 8pm it says “good morning alex!” at the top of the feed, which tells me that the developers were hardly even trying when they built the app. I would actually give this app 2.5 stars but the App Store doesn’t allow half star ratings.

No Functionality for Creators

As a Patreon creator I was look for the ability to have some functionality for managing my Patreon creator account. This app has ZERO functionality for this. The description is false. Beware. It is 100% for Patrons supporting creators. That’s great for Patrons, but Patreon might want to consider providing mobile support for their actual customers.

Nightmare to navigate

So many people complain about the same thing. It’s not a smart app, basically. This is my story. Tiers. I’m just trying to add or edit tiers. So it’s inaccessible unless you go to your profile, which you can see your own tier. And join your own tier. Where is the edit button? It’s so hard to find... I still don’t know how to navigate. The web version is a nightmare too. The dev team of Patreon do Not Know what they are doing when it comes to usable apps, user interface or structure of their own system. It’s so hard to use. Confusing and it’s just not organized properly. A lot of functions are not easy to find. Where they Got it, is for example, the message section. Two segments, as a patron, and a creator. Smart. Makes sense. Nice execution of user experience driven system design. The rest. Is. Nightmare. I’m a harsh critic because I do have hope in Patreon. Just... they need to really think How confusing their system is. (Web and app)

Still has bad bugs

This app has come a long way as far as fixing bugs so it has gone from horribly useless to poor which is an improvement. I find issues with the UI particularly in how hidden the menu is to search and find new content creators you don’t follow. I think the search for new creators should be out in the Feed section.

What I still find horrendously bad is the media player. It never remembers the last position where you left off if you close the app, or go to another section of the app, it does not play in the background, if your watching a long episode the video can abruptly stop and then brings you back to the beginning because again, it never remembers where it stopped. All these horrendous bugs I find it appalling that they have not been addressed in so long. I rather watch content on any other player just because it works much better.

Can’t log in with email at all.

Useless as I cannot access my account through the app. Love the site though!

Not sure why app is so limited

Downloaded this app for the first time today, and yes, I saw some of the negative reviews. I have to say I agree with most of them. I followed an organization that produces podcasts I find very rewarding and then I signed up to be a patron. The signup went through well, but every time I start the app it tells me on the feed screen that I’m not following anyone, and tells me to search for people to follow. I already did that. So I look for the app feedback (I would think this would be mandatory for Apple to even allow an app on their store) but there is no feedback function. I can only send a message to the people I’m a patron of, but even then I have to search for them. They should already be listed as I’m a patron now. Do I have to go to the Patreon website to send app feedback? Is that even available there? This makes no sense at all. This app is needlessly crippled and I don’t understand why. If they add these and other badly needed features, I will update my review and perhaps my rating as well.

I just want to search through my patrons posts...

App is good and the platform is brilliant. But the one feature I want, above ALL ELSE, is the ability to limit my search to the content of posts my patrons put out.

There’s content I subscribe to which is great and maybe a year or two later I want to go back and re-download it. Maybe I only remember a key word or two, but what do I have to do? Hope that I remember which patron it was and scroll for DAYS. Even then I might get it wrong. Please. PLEASE. It can’t be that difficult to add in a search function to only search through the posts of people I’m subscribed to. I don’t even care if I can only do it on my desktop and not in the app - I could deal with that. But having to deal with this issue for LITERAL YEARS is unacceptable for a platform as big as Patreon.

Love it

PATREON has allowed me to create and get paid- doing the thing I love- horse football dissections. It allowed me to drop a day a week at work so I can concentrate on creating more PATREON videos. It’s a perfect platform for me as it’s so easy.

Cant do much.

I love that I can see who I am currently following and my pledges but this app is really lacking the versatility of the website. There is a search bar to look up creators but I can never find the creators I am trying to follow, it is like it doesn’t access the whole database and can only give me limited options. The second I go onto their website I can find the creators I was looking for. It can be a bit inconvenient. Another thing is that it is super hard to sort a creators page, there is no sort tags or anything, you have to manually scroll all the way to the bottom and god forbid the app refreshes and you have to do it all over again.
Essentially, great app for just staying updated with the creators you currently follow and their new updates but super difficuly and inconvenient to find new creators and navigate a creators page.
