The best traditional roguelike on the iPad

The game is deep and has a great interface that is well thought out. I can’t recommend this game highly enough.

Flawless.

Anyone who wants to get into the rougelite genre or Vets wanting a roguelite experience on mobile should get this game. Jumping in, there is a ton of options for classes and races, along with the selection of a pet. From there, you can be a evil necromancer, using your money to buy karma to select boons to raise a undead army to slaughter shop owners and even some underground colonies, taming animals you find, EATING those pets, or sacrificing their corpses at a altar to achieve divine power. There is a lack of monitization and evil practices, which means you MUST get this game now.

A Masterpiece That Keeps Getting Better

This is the best roguelike on the App Store and it’s not even close. The latest update adds the option to play with multiple characters, which adds a whole new dynamic to an already rich, complex gaming experience. Oh, and it’s free— as in no in-app purchases, no ads, nothing. Are you kidding me?? Download this game already.

Deleted for cause

No accessibility testing was done especially not with VoiceOver turned on. Buttons all say button with focus on first screen. This for me is especially disappointing since I was playing nethack before Linux got created using msdos and a screen reader on a desktop computer. If any interest exists to make this one accessible I’ll leave a hint. If VoiceOver is detected the ascii game board works real good otherwise correctly labeling all of those graphics for VoiceOver will be necessary. Fortunately inethack is also available and plays in ascii mode.

Hey Jude-d, I have never thought to support VoiceOver (and this is the first time I've had this feedback in over three years of publishing the game). If you'd like to help me figure this out and playtest it, maybe drop me an email? hodgskin.callan@gmail.com.

I really love this game

This game is so much fun to play, and the fact that every play through is different, and every time you play it you discover some new mechanic. On top of all that, the game is FREE!!!

One of the best roguelikes on iOS hands down

Being unfamiliar with Nethack, this game was completely different than anything I've ever experienced.

The sheer amount of possibilities in this game can overwhelm you at first. Yet there is a very thorough guide detailing everything you need to know to get to crawling dungeons and slaying dragons (along with hundreds of other enemies)

Pathos has introduced me to a brand new style of RPG rogue likes and I cannot overstate how happy I am to have downloaded this gem.

My only criticism is that when in multiplayer using two devices, only the host can reroll for stats. The multiplayer is still in alpha so it does not affect the 5 star rating this game deserves.

Lizard man!!

Love it!!!!! Such a great game 👌

Roguelike perfection!

I have been searching for something like DCSS on iOS and now my hunt is over. Lots of different classes and abilities, and the option to create a custom character. 3 tile sets, and a procedurally generated dungeon as well as a static option. Fantastic game, if you are at all a fan of the genre do yourself a a favor and download this immediately.

Best Roguelike in the app store.

Totally in love with this game. By far one of the most satisfying dungeon crawlers with tons of options for races/classes and countless item types and crafting options. I don’t know of any other crawler where I can craft a semiautomatic rifle, zap enemies with a unicorn horn, get slaughtered in a room full of people summoning devils, eat the corpse of my pet and feel regret, buy a hawaiian shirt, or form an alliance with a kitten. And that was all within just the first couple hours of gameplay.

I only wish my pets didn’t perish so easily :D

*Dev Response* Custom Char Portraits Frozen

*Edit* : Thanks for the response!

Here's what you can do to reproduce the bug:

• Switch tile set to classic

• Start a run with a new custom character (without a custom portrait, leaving the default portrait)

• End the run early

• Edit the character you just made and choose a new race, class, and gender.

• Finally, Tap outside the race, gender, class selection screen

The portrait should be frozen on the last run's portrait, refusing to change dynamically as you make new gender, race, and class selections.

It might take a few tries to reproduce the bug, i'm sure you'll reproduce it if you follow these steps. I just reproduced it myself so I know it definitely is reproducible.

Thank you so much for your hard work. I hope you'll fix this bug soon!

-original bug report starts below-

bug I found in the most recent update

The portrait doesn't dynamically change when selecting ones gender, race, or class. It remains frozen on the last character you were from your last run. Only when you select your class and proceed to the roll stats screen does the portrait change.

Please fix this as soon as possible. Thanks.

*Edit*: thank you for the clear steps to reproduce the issue! I have now fixed and this will be in the next public release. If you'd like to get this sooner I'd be happy to sign you up for the beta channel (just drop me an email if you are interested). It's just more updates, more often, no obligations. *Edit 2* Would you mind confirming this issue is fixed in the latest update? -original response- Hey sorry about the bug but can you tell me a little bit more? I'm not quite sure how to reproduce the issue from what you have said. More than happy to fix as soon as possible.
