Great App for people who hate exercising

I love that I can fully customise the exercises. Don’t enjoy burpees?- switch it out for something more preferable. Sore legs? Do an arm workout. Exhausted and just want to lie on the couch? Do an express workout first. I naturally do not enjoy exercise, but am finding this app manageable and very user friendly. My only critique is that when scheduling workouts for the week, it doesn’t save your exercise ‘substitutes’, which is quite annoying, because then you have to swap them out again on the day of.
Because i like to plan tomorrow’s workout the night before (when the memory of my hatred for exercise is lessened), making this change would make the process a lot smoother.

Amazing review!! Thanks so much for your incredible support! Your feedback is very valuable to us, we explore all suggestions that are provided to us as we continue to update the Sweat app 😊

Love, love, love this app!!

I’m updating my review from several years ago. I still love this app and in fact love it even more. I started doing Kayla’s app on and off years ago, but my daughter and I have been doing this app regularly for the last year and a half. We started with Kayla’s HIIT program but that was just too high impact for me. We did Stephanie’s weight training at home & finished the full 15 week program and loved it! We’ve done some challenges in between. We’re trying out Kayla’s low impact program now, going into week 5, and we really like it too. I like this one because it’s only a 1/2 hr long and it works into our schedule right now. We will eventually try to do the extra weeks that Stephanie just recently adde to her weight training at home program. I’m really starting to see results and I’m looking forward to seeing how things progress. I love that Kayla has added so many different trainers and exercises for all fitness levels. Anyone should be able to find a program that suits them and their needs. I also like the trainers philosophy on eating: eat a well balanced diet and don’t deprive yourself of things that you like to eat. I would (& have) recommended this app!

Good not great

It’s not a bad app when the gym isn’t an option, but it’s probably not a good app for people just getting into fitness for the first time. The beginner workouts are hardly for beginners, I’m a fairly athletic person, and while I hadn’t worked out in a few weeks when I started using the app, the beginner workouts were still challenging for me, it would be pretty discouraging for someone who’s actually working out for the first time. The workouts go from 0 to 100 real quick too, the progression is way too quick, one week you’re on knee pushups and the next you’re doing full push-up burpees. It would be good to see the instruction video doing the exercises at a realistic pace as well, seeing only 2-4 reps of the exercise on repeat at a really fast pace is misleading and leads to people trying to maintain the pace demonstrated while compromising form. Having said all that I did enjoy the workouts for a while, Kayla can pack an intense workout into a short amount of time, but after doing the program for about 3 months I lost interest.

Thank you for your review and feedback, Shae! We have 5 programs within the Sweat app specifically designed for beginners that I'm sure you'd love. These are Bodyweight Strength with Anissia, Low Impact HIIT with Samantha, HIIT with Monica, Low Impact Strength with Kelsey and Strength and Cardio with Marilyn. You will find that the pace of these programs is slower than Kayla's High-Intensity programs and we suggest getting started with one of these to get you moving again if you're just getting back into training after some time off. This will allow you to build foundational strength, which will make the progression in later programs easier. We always recommend going at your own pace, listening to your body, and adapting the workouts to suit you. This includes modifying or substituting any exercises that feel too challenging.😊

Terrible interface on laptop

Purchased this on my laptop and the interface was awful - glitchy, tiny resolution, less features. It wasn’t until i opened this on my iPhone when I realised it’s only really good for a phone. Also it’s very difficult to switch between programmes without losing your trophys! A bit of work for the developers to tidy up, but otherwise and Ok programme. Also the pop up that congratulates you when you have finished a week keep appearing every time you navigate the screen, even after clicking x. Super annoying.

Exactly What I Needed

I’ve been using this the Sweat App since May and I love it. I’ve followed Kayla for a few years on Instagram, but always thought I was too much of a beginner to do her HIIT programs. Once the low intensity programs launched, I finally took the plunge. The workouts are perfect for where I’m at in my fitness journey. I love the way the program is laid out in the app. It’s easy to see what I need to accomplish each week. I like the built in timers in the workout because they make it easy to transition between exercises in a set. I like that the moves are shown and there’s a detailed description of each move. It’s also easy substitute exercises, if needed. Im not following the meal plan right now, but I like that it’s available and have been inspired by the suggestions. The only thing I would change, and it’s really minor, is the timer for the cardio. Instead of counting down from the selected time, I wish it worked like the Map My Run app where I start the timer and stop whenever I’m done.
Overall, I love the app and highly recommend it. It’s so easy to use which helps me stick to my program and actually makes me look forward to working out.

Great exercise programs

I’ve been away from this app for a while and have only recently come back to it. I like the updated app. The programs (I’ve done the exercise programs by Kayla Itsines and Kelsey Wells) are great, however I’m disappointed to see that you still cannot log a workout on a previous day (there are so many times I’ve completed a workout and forgotten to log it on the actual day). It’d also be great to see, as someone previously mentioned, the ability to log weights used and number of reps (if you happened to complete a different number of reps than suggested). Also, when using a different workout app I could get an overview of the whole program and look ahead to the following week to see what my upcoming workouts would be like, which I cannot seem to do in this app. Overall, great exercise programs (thanks guys) but the app itself could improve.

Lovely review! You will be happy to know we have updated this feature, head to your planner and select the "+" symbol to add a workout to your week. You can now log weights within your workouts too! If you are not seeing this, please contact us support@sweat.com 🙂

Good App but needs some improvements

The exercises are good and there are varieties of trainers but the price paid, it really should allow the users to work out offline. It seems counter-intuitive for a fitness app to promote being able to workout anywhere but only if you have a Wi-fi connections or cellular service. A user should be able to download workouts offline or use the app offline as a feature. Also there seems to be very limited express workouts available on the “On Demand” section. the search option “On Demand” exercises are is also a bit limited in what you can search for (I.e. not being able to search for targeted areas like if someone wanted to do a search for abs, or shoulders , etc.). Another thing noticed was whenever you search and schedule an On Demand workout, the workout is added on the calendar and once that’s done, you’re taken back to the main page again and have to navigate 3 or 4 steps back to your on demand search to schedule other workouts. Wished the app was smart enough to bring you back to the screen right before you scheduled that workout instead.

Overall a good workouts, but they definitely need to make some updates to their apps. Been using for a year now and not sure I’ll renewal given so many other workouts apps that would allow offline workouts.

Best app ever!

About a year ago I decided to give up my gym membership, as I had gone back to work part time and was finding it hard to fit in the gym around young children and work. I have been using the sweat app non stop for a year now and have found it so motivating. I get up at 5.30 and have my workout gear ready to go. I don’t have to think about my workouts I just follow the app. I love how it progresses each week. I have found I have been able to keep up my fitness and muscle tone just as much as when I was going to the gym regularly 😁 100% recommend this app

Great

Really enjoy this app, think its great value for money. I would love if you could progress through two programs at once... like pick a trainer for weights and then when you go into the “by demand” tab, you could see sjanas entire program and pick the next yoga sesh you are up to. The other thing that could make it really awesome is a bit more added for advanced fitness, as theres been a-lot added for beginners. The food plan hasnt changed in years either, for a vegan its not diverse enough. Also, a boxing and cycling trainer would really top the app off. Then you would have just about everything you need.
But overall, excellent app, have used it for years. Shout out to steph sanzo, im almost getting back to a 100kg deadlift after injury to my back 4 years ago and her programming alone is to thank for that because I've been trying to get back there for about that long.

Life changing

From this app to her blogs, Kayla has changed my life. I feel good, eat healthy and work out 5 times a week. I look forward to the new challenges each week and after week 2 I could already see the change within me and my body. I can't begin to put in to words how different I feel. This is a lifestyle change and I am so happy that I found this. Kayla encourages positive thinking and attitudes, if you have time to read her blogs you will see how inspiring she is. You are encouraged in the most natural healthy way. Exercise a little, build it up and eat healthily. I've been going to the gym for years and nothing changed much until I started following these weekly work out plans. If you are dedicated and really want that change then this is worth every single penny.
