  • Indispensable for musicians! If you don’t have it...

...you should!!! It gets used almost every day around here. Wonderful app. Absolute must-have along with AudioShare. Kymatica apps are some of the best iOS music apps available.
  • Disappointed with VoiceOver support

I bought this app after having great experiences with the AUFX series. As a blind Apple user, iOS apps are always a hit or miss situation. Unfortunately, this specific app seems to be a miss for my community.

There are lots of unlabeled buttons. Any blind iOS or Mac user knows exactly what I mean. Going through the interface elicits a repeated “button, button, button, button, button…” without any indication of what said buttons do. This is not to say we’re a button-averse bunch. One only needs to do a search of Pro Tools, Logic, or Reaper accessibility on the web to see just how many of us do fine with complex daws. The key here is simple—correct element labels.

I gave 2 stars, because I’m sure the software is well-designed for sighties, but this was a $21 no-use case for me, despite this dev’s other solid offerings.

I hope to change my review in the future, because this has so much promise for a nice mobile option to complement my less-mobile Mac rigs.

    Developer Response

Sorry to hear that! You are right that Accessibility is missing in this app currently. I will look into it for future updates.
  • LFOs is all we need

Everyone who makes music on iOS needs this app. Thank you so much for all your hard work in developing AUM. I only ask for one more thing; built in LFOs for all the app parameters. Please consider this. Thanks again.
  • The best and really easiest app for live use with an iPad

AUM is a must have app if you want to use an iPad live. The ease of use. MIDI implementation, and ability to layer and structure channels, stack keyboards, and sync tempos is phenomenal. It’s taken my bands live show to another level. About as flexible and easy to learn as one could want. Just fantastic.

  • Finally Found My Favorite iOS Workflow

I’ve been doing iOS music for many years. People always raved about AUM, and used it in videos. I held off for awhile using other DAWs/Hosts that were great for me at that time, but never quite perfect. As I learned more, and the development of apps progressed, I began to see the value of AUM and finally purchased it. I hate to use buzzwords, but it was a complete game changer for my workflow, my music production, and my songwriting. The app has stepped up my game and helped me learn so much. It’s just brilliant in so many ways. It lets you pick and choose the pieces you need, in a very open and creative way, instead of feeling like a closed workspace. It’s super stable, great gui, great built in fx & features. There’s also been several amazing updates that continue to make this the best app for music production on the App Store. Not sure where my music would be without 3.5 years of daily AUM usage. I can’t sit here and say it’s for everyone because workflow is a personal choice, based on feeling comfortable, creative, and being able to do the things you want to do. I will say this app can basically do everything. It completely revolutionized my music making, and made so many things “click” for me. I can’t recommend this app enough. My most used app, hands down. 10 Stars!

  • New update is a game changer. Amazing work!

Now you can swipe right on any plugin or synth and see individual CPU usage and how many ms it adds to your signal. Helping you decide which ones are worth keeping in your signal chain and workflow.
Thank you for the hard work!
  • Losing work, every time

I want to recommend this app, because honestly it’s dope, but every time I load up my preset I made for koala sampler and I start to work on a new project within the preset I made (the preset just being some channels routed to a master from koala) something triggers a crash within koala sampler and it resets my entire project, and some could say “well maybe it’s koala” but when I use koala by itself (not within AUM) this has never happened, if koala sampler crashes it at least saves my work. Not sure what’s causing the crashes, random things seem to trigger the crash but I’m still unsure. I’m using 2021 M1 iPad Pro btw so I don’t think it’s cpu.

  • Re: the “Change the name to wormwood” guys review

AUM isn’t really that complicated. Is there a learning curve? You bet. I don’t understand how anyone that spends 15 minutes learning this fantastic app doesn’t see all the benefits. What are you even doing.

Anyways, it’s an incredible app, I’d even go so far as to say it’s essential if you want to do more that simply play synth apps one at a time w you usb keyboard. So good! Thanks, K!

  • My main music making app

Despite having an obscene amount of all sorts of music production apps ranging from countless synths, all major iOS DAWs and down to obscure effects and arpeggiators, there is no app in my amateur wannabe music producer’s arsenal that enjoys the same level of use and love as AUM. Ironically, i wouldn’t even get it if it wasn’t for all the raving it gets on forums and in music oriented social media groups. Now, i can’t even imagine any music making effort i attempt on my iPad without AUM being its cornerstone. Had it for almost two years now.

  • The one essential music app

What is AUM? At first it looks like it’s merely a mixer. But it’s simplicity belies it’s immense power. That’s good app design. But as you explore the app you realize it’s so much more than just a mixer. It’s the glue that binds all of your audio apps. Keeping them all on time and in sync. It works with your midi hardware, your midi software and best of all these amazing AUV3 apps which include special effects and virtual synthesizers and drum apps and really everything. If theses apps are well designed AUM let’s you easily route things to them, like midi messages and LFOs and sequencers. It’s quite literally the Rosetta Stone of audio apps. To say it’s indispensable would be an understatement. Best part the developer is super active in his community and fixing bugs. This app is in active development. This is a no brainer purchase, worth every penny. If you wondered how to make mobile music or take your music to the next level, look no further. This is it!!!
