  • My Essential Performance Platform

I’ve been creating ambient electronic soundscapes for more than 30 years. My tools have evolved from massive modular analog systems to Virtual Analog hardware to, now, iOS. AUM is the tool that has allowed me to seamlessly layer a multitude of sound sources, effects, and complex systems in real time. It offers a surprisingly comprehensive set of audio routing tools, and a vast midi toolkit, all coded with rigorous efficiency and skill. The design is simple and clean, and the functionality intuitive. Also, Jonatan, the developer, is remarkably engaged with users, and is constantly improving and updating features and functionality. Because the feature set is vast, I strongly encourage you to read the User Guide, and watch one of the many great tutorials, to make sure you understand whether AUM can meet your specific needs.

  • Change the name to wormwood

I see all these folks using this . But the moment I open it I’m furious that it expects all of us to ignore everything we learned about using apps and turns us into little fleas jumping through navigational hoops to do even the simplest of every day music making on the iPads . And the army of people using it and who think it’s so awesome are like a private golf club in pebble beach That only allows their way of operating to exist . Because of this app audio buss is a junk pile of problems too. Since it’s inception all AUM has accomplished is to drive people away from my beloved iPad Pro . And now studio pros laugh at anyone who even speaks about iOS . I sure hope the minuscule amount of people who enjoy AUM will disagree but they seem to enjoy using puzzles to make music on an app that is so unintuitive it’s ridiculous. We need a central hub daw that opens all apps within itself and actually looks and behaves like one . Something native to Apple not third party …like Logic Pro but as long as everyone keeps using a puzzle to make music that will never happen. And it’s 2021 already . I will never use this app ever it’s junk and stupidly over engineered to please the engineer who created it and thinks “it’s useful to twenty or thirty people so great.”😖😖😖😖😖😖😖🐕😖🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🙏

    Developer Response

That's quite a lot of (hurtful) words just to say that AUM is not for you. I'm sorry that I can't please every possible user out there. AUM does exactly what it says in the description, and thousand of users are happy with it. It sounds to me like you would be better of asking AppStore for a refund and buy one of the available DAW apps instead.
  • AUM changed my iOS life

I do a lot of live performance using my iPad as a plugin host with a MIDI (wind/breath) controller. AUM is an indispensable part of my setup, absolutely essential. It allows me to configure and save my instrument and effects plugin chains and setup customized MIDI control routing with the various apps. AUM allows me to use my iPad in the same way I setup these kind of patches on my laptop host. Being able to run this kind of setup on my iPad is a huge bonus, since it’s more portable than dragging my laptop rig around.

  • You need this

I’ve had AUM for about 2 years now, I use it every day just about. Always can find an answer to what I need to do, best app for quick jams or coming up with concepts on the fly using all of your auv3 apps. The multiout works fantastic, never an issue. This is. A must have for any serious iPad music producer. Get it today.

  • Must Have for Live Performance

AUM isn’t a traditional ‘old skewl’ DAW….. it’s a futuristic workhorse that let’s you create sounds; both for live and recorded purposes.

It hosts a myriad of AUv3 plugins that let you sound-sculp live and generated sounds of all kinds.

I use it in live performances with my violin. I have different “patches” and can MIDI control AUM to switch between them as needed.

  • Easily The Best, Easily 5 Starts

Wrote this review a few years ago, and in 2021 it’s the same sentiments, ESPECIALLY THE MIDI CLOCK IN. I guess the ability to restore last deleted channel is a step closer to UNDO button.

“Been using this for years, and it’s a well-thought-out app. Tiny footprint for the large chest of features. UX is brilliant, especially with the new midi channels. However... I'd really love to see an UNDO button. Also, please allow midi clock in. Other than that, keep up the great work.”

  • inter apps not working

after the ios 15 update interapps do not load

edit: OK I figured it out you can load the interapp and then it will load. You only need to load the stand alone once.
  • Stands in a class of its own

I rarely write reviews. I detest being nagged for a review in apps. I also buy and try many apps, not many stick around for a long time.

not the case with AUM. I’m primarily a live guitarist, and this app has been the heart of my rig for almost a year now. it’s amazing what it can do, and with plugins on the iOS platform, the only limit is my imagination. I have an 11” 2020 iPad Pro, and I have never gotten the CPU meter consistently above 45% - ever. and I have come up with some pretty crazy setups, running two discrete guitar signals live. the MIDI flexibility is amazing as well. coupled with Ableton Live running on another computer on the network, my entire show is automated. it’s amazing - and it’s all because of AUM. there’s simply nothing else like this on the app store.

if you’re a mobile minded musician, stop wondering already and get this.

  • Amazing, but lacks a couple key features for me…

This is truly my go to app for music, except when it comes to more complex and rehearsed shows.
The key feature it lacks is scenes within sessions and a set list feature. For those I use Keystage2. I would much rather use AUM though. AUM just looks so much better and is great live when I have more liberty to improv.
Please add scenes and set lists, please please please. Thanks for an amazing app!

  • Help!!

I love this app to use with my iPad but now it stopped working and says the audio engine isn’t on. I’ve uninstalled it and reinstalled and still have the same problem. Is this an iPad issue? GB and Cubasis 3 and the other apps are working fine. Any suggestions?
Also, I wanted to contact you on the website but it says it’s not secure???
