Reviews of foobar2000

  • A great music player that rises above the rest.

This is the best of the three music player apps I've tried on my iPod, and better than Apple's built-in Music app (for my needs). Personally I don't have an Apple Music subscription, but its ability to add custom files via foobar's folder AND stuff downloaded via iTunes/Apple Music is a very convenient feature. Its' one and only fault is the fact that playlists added via iTunes/Apple Music aren't able to be transferred too, at least as of May 22nd 2024.

Foobar is also better in that Apple Music (the built-in app on iOS), on a device not connected to the internet, tends to stop playing music between songs for at least 10 seconds or more, where Foobar keeps going without any stuttering whatsoever.

The fact you can customize the look of the app as well with skin files (you'll have to search for them on the internet and put them in foobar's folder) is an amazing feature that keeps it either modern-looking or gives it a retro feel. I've never used the original PC version of this app, but I hear that is pretty good too.

All in all I'd highly recommend it, so long as you have all your music downloaded.
  • Top-tier music app.

I've struggled with finding a convenient way to listen to my music library anywhere I go, but this app absolutely takes the cake. I've used the fb2k desktop app for a very long time and absolutely love it, and the mobile app does not disappoint. It supports almost everything I've tried, even a ton of VGM formats (save for some more obscure formats like txtp). I have absolutely no complaints, it does everything I want it to. I've long since abandoned modern streaming services and I don't plan on looking back.
  • Best way to listen to radio streams

Ive been looking for a decent radio streamer for ios and of course foobar does the job the best.

Too many radio apps want you to pay/create an account/or inject ads into the streams and thats all just really sleazy. I just wanted something i could a few local stations to and listen on the go with no frills and foobar delivers. Their stream finder found the 4 stations I wanted to bookmark(not something the other apps i tried could manage)

Kudos to foobar2000 for still being the best regardless of platform.
