  • Works great

I bought this device to control an electric fireplace that can only be turned on/off with an IR remote. I wanted to control the fireplace with Alexa voice control, and to have some redundancy for the old remote. This little $20 unit works perfectly. The only caveat is that the R3 only supports TVs for Alexa control. So I had to enroll my fireplace as a TV, then train the unit with my fireplace remote for all functions. Sort of a pain, but who cares? I’m only using the on/off for the fireplace. I’d give it 5 stars if I could have enrolled the fireplace without making it a TV

  • It works perfect for me

Works well just need a little bit to know about electronics for me everything works well even with Alexa voice control
  • I doesn’t work well with Alexa

Click on app support and that gives u an idea. If you are fluent in Chinese, you can get help. If not, you’re on your own.

This will turn TV on and off. It doesn’t change channels. And developers have not responded 3 weeks into owning the mini remote controller hardware.

Serious lack of quality. I am surprised they are still listed in the Apple App Store, frankly.

  • Needs Work

The app is just barely usable and doesn’t provide much value yet. First, there’s almost no documentation provided with the device or online. The app crashed repeatedly at about 90% complete when I tried to add the Mini as a device. I finally figured out after an hour that you have to start the configuration within a minute of resetting by the device. After adding the Mini and 4 appliances to it, I noticed that I had specified the wrong room location on the Mini. Sadly, you can’t change the room location without deleting all devices you’ve added. Also, there’s no support in Alexa for scenes yet. Finally, RF and WiFi devices aren’t supported so it won’t control my PS3 or Roku. As I said, not much value here.

  • Does work, needs polishing

I was surprised to see so many negative reviews! The only thing I’ve had this app struggle with is learning RF devices. It often takes quite a few tries and can be kind of frustrating, but that may be more to do with the RM hardware.

They could definitely use some polishing, though. Why no Alexa support except TVs (though you can just treat nearly anything as a TV...though RF things are tough to get working)? Why no IFTTT (unless you have their multi sensor) or Stringify support? That would make this app incredibly powerful. I’d also like to be able to customize some things. For example, when you click a device, you get a quick pop up menu...I want to be able to swap out the channel changer for volume. Etc.

Customer support has been okay. Not great, but they’ve always replied and tried to help, despite the language barrier. Again, fairly confused by some of these other reviews.

  • Does it work?

It does! I haven’t seen many of the other issues that other reviews have complained about. However, you’re not here to read a bunch of bs so let’s get down to it!
Why did I give this 4 stars?

    The positives:
•The app recognizes most devices pretty well. I use old 32 inch TVs as monitors and the buttons are in the worst places. I lost the remotes long ago, but with this app you press a couple buttons and it connects it right to it with most buttons pre-programmed. If it doesn’t then you can just get a universal remote and connect it to the tv and program the buttons in using that.
•You can use it to control more than one device at once. Using “scenes” you can group devices together and even delay the time between each function being performed (Not sure why anyone would delay it unless they’re trying to do some sort of dramatic reveal)
•It works with Alexa. If you have an Alexa enabled device you can easily teach it the broadlink skill and have her control your stuff just by using your voice.

    The negatives:
•Pairing the actual hub might be a pain sometimes. I have the RM Mini3 and it was listed under “remotes” which some people might not think to look under and scanning the barcode as it suggested did not work for my Mini3. It would’ve saved me a little bit of a headache if they would just list their own products on the front page of where you go to add the device (aka “Frequently used”)

Honestly I would give it 4.5 stars but that wasn’t an option.

  • Network Time Out

I have tried this app on every device I own. It works for the first 5 minutes and then says “Network Time Out,” not allowing me to control anything. It also will not read my RF controller for whatever reason but the old Broadlink e-control app will. I have never used a worse ecosystem than this. I have spent hours setting this up and I still cannot get it to work. Do not waste your time. If I could give 0 stars I would

  • ADD IFTTT SUPPORT

I love this app and the RM Pro, I bought the Logitech Harmony and sent it back because of the RM pro and it works perfect around my house! The only thing I wish I could do is customize it more with IFTTT and make widgets for my phone to control lights and other devices!
  • Scheduled Timer must be reset EVERY DAY

I had to switch to this app from the e-Control app because the e-Control app was no longer supported.
This app looks nicer but the schedule timer can only be set for one day so that means every day I have to go in and reset the timer for the 14 smart plugs that I have here.
  • Great hub but app can be better!

The app is a bit unintuitive but works. Alexa support seems to works only TV which I don’t use. Make the app open source by putting it on github. Users can make it better.
